...getting mama a new desktop ( another mac ) and was wondering which one to go with...

Apple 21.5 (she doesn't want the 27) for some reason

Intel core i5

1.6 GHz dual core

8 GB memory

1 TB hard drive

or

Apple 21.5

Quadcore i5

8 GB memory

1 TB hard drive

2.8 GHz quadcore

Question I'm having is...the second one is 300 dollars more,is it worth it.My first impression would be yes but again i'm not a computer  wiz.

So any help would be great and yes she's stuck on Apple computers, thanks

The i5 is a better cpu it all boils down to is she doing any encoding, dvd ripping or 3d rendering etc if not the cheaper option is there for you :)

Edit : Did you edit the post I did not see I5 against the first pc when I posted so I will adust to say the quad is better etc , etc ;)

if shes into photography or something llike graphics, you better get the quadcore or just expect slow processing times ,like adobe photoshop or finalcut pro require some heavy duty processing if you dont want any stuttering or slow processing. i would even get her an I7 and skip the !5s.

they are beautiful machines but hard to upgrade which is why i would get something with a little more cpu power.

She doesn't do shit on the computer except for school, some work and play candy crush, farm saga, surfing the web, download iTunes etc.

Nothing heavy at all no photography,no 3D rendering,no encoding etc, just normal use.

Now knowing that what would your recommendations be ?

Do not mean to be a party pooper but a 16gb ssd hard drive wont go far :)

The first one you listed fuzzy.

Or you could get twice as powerful PC for the same cash and stick , Kaspersky , Bitdefender or Eset Protection on and have Malwarebytes as a second opinion scanner.

I know what i would do :)
