Geo latency question (FIFA 16 PS4)

Recommended Posts

Hi, I live in Australia, and trying to play FIFA 16 on PS4. I like playing with international players, kinda cool playing with people from completely different countries and i dont mind the lag on FIFA as im not a big time player, anyways, Ive noticed i keep getting matched with players from the middle east and Africa which is all good, but ive noticed that i always get 400ms+ ping, which is expected, ive played pc games in those regions and ping tested ect and thats what i expect. BUT there has been a few times where i got matched with someone from Israel and i got 220ms ping, which i thought was strange to have a ping so low (for me to the region), and also a player from Saudi Arabia i got 250ms ping. but i got matched with different Saudi players and i got my usual 400ms ping. Pretty much any Middle eastern/African region game i always have a high ping and thats simply because of how my network providers cables run. So what Im asking is why do i have a low ping to a very few players there? Im thinking one of the following

1: Maybe they are with a different network provider that provides a better cable route to Australia

2: theres a dedicated server in a different country Im not aware of that we are both connected to, maybe the likes of Japan or USA
3: Geo filter is giving me incorrect pings or possibly giving me a players incorrect location

I also have this happen with south american players, i can get 250ms ping to some in Brazil, and other players in Brazil ill have 500ms+ ping

Im just really curious as of why

thanks!

Some of the other guys will chime in on the other questions but I would just like to say if you think a particular server is in an incorrect location please post it here and the devs will check it out for you. It can happen. : http://forum.netduma.com/topic/1723-cloud-incorrect-locations/

  • The server ID
  • The ping
  • Where you live
  • For example:      4b173a05b4ea5c61, 25ms, UK
