Bridge mode, DMZ???

Recommended Posts

I can't access my router. I have little to no internet at home. According to my ISP my modem is online, I'm supposed to have internet (but I don't) and have an exceptional connection (but no internet access). Been hearing talk about bridge mode and DMZ, IDK I'm no tech guy. All this sounds confusing and complicated. :(  Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hey welcome to the forum. Okay so it looks like you actually can connect to the interface is the correct?

Please try rebooting the router from settings > miscellaneous.

You can do bridge mode or DMZ but you still have internet access, hopefully a reboot will resolve that.

Opening your NAT is very simple you can follow our guide here about putting the R1 in the DMZ http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=how_do_i_open_my_nat

Got it. Ok, now I set my modem to the DMZ but the blue box is still there. Should I enable both DMZ and bridge mode or leave one or the other enabled...?

Hi Vendetta :) Don't worry that the blue box is still appearing, it just means you are connected to another router.

One or the other is fine, keep the DMZ for now, as Crossy says its nothing to worry about. Able to connect to the internet now?

In bridge mode, do we need to use port forwarding or it's useless?

IMO, Upnp doesn't work correctly on PS4 so i don't know if my present settings are correct.

What ports aren't opening that you think it needs to?

You can port forward that's fine, just make sure not to open ports that UPnP does
