Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Why is it when I try to go into the vpn settings it locks up, I have too shut netduma down to get back to Normal. Has anybody else had this problem
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted September 4, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted September 4, 2015 What do you mean by 'locks up'? If you are getting an error saying can't communicate with router and you can't change the settings on the VPN then that is caused by the VPN not having a valid DNS server
Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Hello Crossy. When I tap vpn on main menu for all the different settings, it just stays on the five or six bars at the top of menu doing the Mexican wave, goes no farther,I have to then come out of netduma to get back in.☺️

Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Do you have to go into vpn, or is there another way into it.
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted September 4, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted September 4, 2015 You need to go into the VPN settings to disable it
Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 That's the problem,can not get into it
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted September 4, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted September 4, 2015 That's the problem, can not get into it Oh, I thought you said you can restart the Netduma to get back into it?
Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 No sorry about that not very good at explaining sometimes,no only program, not the R1☺️
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted September 4, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted September 4, 2015 No sorry about that not very good at explaining sometimes,no only program, not the R1☺️ Oh, I think the only way to fix this would be to factory reset. Can you go to Settings >> Miscellaneous and do a factory reset? Make sure that if you set the VPN back up you chose one with a valid DNS
Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Hello Crossy, sorry I have not got back to you, having trouble this end after reset, it would not accept password. Could not get back on line because I could not get back into Virgin super hub, they changed it back to modem/router. Found out while talking to them, that on back of sh there is a reset button to get back to to modem/router,at the minute I am still virgin

Does that let you connect?
Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Okay will setup again,is it the usual 12 numbers after that.
PharmDawgg Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 The only way to explain it is the VPN function is very qwerkie. I've had t lock up on me a few times and the only way to fix it is to factory reset. You have to be very careful when entering the config files as well because if you do it incorrectly it will lock it up as well. That is why I try to always remember to disable before copy and pasting in the files.
Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Crossy you are outstanding ,can now get back into it,pop up say's I am using old numbers as in (192.168.88.1). Is there a new one,or am I best to leave it alone

Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 When I press VPN on settings it comes up. You are using the old VPN setting,it will still work but we recommend reconnecting to the vpn. The old setting being 192.168.88.1
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted September 4, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted September 4, 2015 Ok, I understand All you need to do is disable the VPN, click 'Apply', then re-enable it and it will switch you over to the newest VPN settings. To stop the original problem you had from happening again you need to make sure that the VPN you chose has a valid DNS server - then you won't get locked out again
Nit3owl Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Cheers as i said, you are a star Big THANKYOU for all your help and info.
