Soose Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Hi everyone was wondering if anyone else is experiencing shooting first and dying first? I have att fiber 1000mbps internet plan and live in Los Angeles. I’m experiencing an issue where in most cases I know I should be winning gunfights where I’m shooting at someone and I immediately get deleted in less than a frame. I’m a very competitive player and always the aggressor but seems like I’m dying to casual players where I feel like the servers are favoring them if that makes sense. This also happens with rainbow six siege as well and I play on console and sometimes PC as well. If anyone else is experiencing major lag compensation and desync please help. I’m averaging at 3ms ping because I know live in Los Angeles and call of duty servers are located here if that makes sense so I guess being closer to a server handicaps you and favors ppl with bad connection? Please help Mohsin77 1
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 2 Administrators Posted September 2 What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Are ALL devices connected to the R3? What are the speeds you pay for/receive? Have you entered those speeds into the router? How have you setup Congestion Control? How have you setup SmartBOOST? Is the console/PC connected via ethernet or WiFi? How have you setup the Geo-Filter? It sounds like you're experiencing the bad side of lag compensation where your connection is so good that it's giving others an advantage. In which case force servers further away with the Geo-Filter even if they have a higher ping and they may play better for you.
Soose Posted September 2 Author Posted September 2 someone helped me optimized my connection and it really helped bring down jitter during buffer bloat and anyone who needs help id recommend getting help from that user. really helped but still experiencing lag compensation. can you elaborate on how to do that last part of your message? i currently live in los Angeles which is i believe one of the major servers for games like call of duty which i play mostly. also just confirming my bufferbloat test works best when setting speeds to 60mbps for both download and upload even with my 1000mbps internet speeds. so when setting geofilter to a different location is it still ok to keep my speeds at 60mbps still?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 3 Administrators Posted September 3 There is no need to set your speeds so low, Congestion Control would lower them anyway except you wouldn't always have to deal with those slow speeds but yes it would be fine to do that and you've answered your own question really, just move your location on the Geo-Filter to cover another area where there are servers before you launch the game. You can use Ping Heatmap to identify where the servers are.
Soose Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Still doesn’t work. I’ve set my geo location to Dallas Texas and feels the same. I’m dying way too fast and experiencing major lag compensation knowing I should be winning gunfights. tried with both capping speeds and also setting speeds to 1000mbps and setting congestion control to 70%. Just sucks that online games favor ppl with poor connection and penalizing ppl with great connection. Not sure why that’s a thing as most streamers and competitive players who do live in Los Angeles have fiber internet but somehow not experiencing the same problem? Sucks because I have fiber and thinking it’s that so I ended up getting spectrum to see if there’s a difference and it feels the same. I’ve got both my pc and ps5 optimized specifically for warzone gaming. I now currently have both att fiber 1000mbps internet speeds as well as spectrum 500mbps internet plan and neither fix this desync or lag compensation issue
