Hi,

I’m having an issue updating my Netgear XR1000.

  • Current firmware: 1.0.0.78_1.0.65
  • I downloaded the latest official firmware (XR1000-V1.0.2.86_2.1.40.chk) from the Netgear website.
  • Updating through the web interface always fails with a firmware update error.
  • I also recovered the router successfully using nmrpflash, but after recovery it still boots into 1.0.0.78 instead of 1.0.2.86.
  • The router works normally, but I cannot upgrade to any newer firmware.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there a required intermediate firmware version, or is this a known problem with the XR1000?

Thank you.

Hi Fraser,

I have tried everything listed in this topic, but unfortunately I still cannot upgrade.

Here is what I have done:

  • Rebooted the router
  • Factory reset
  • Used routerlogin.net/adv_index.htm
  • Used an Incognito window
  • Tried from a different browser
  • Tried from the Nighthawk mobile app
  • Successfully flashed XR1000-V1.0.2.84_2.1.39.chk using nmrpflash (the flash completed successfully and the router rebooted)

After every attempt, the router always boots back to:

Firmware: 1.0.0.78_1.0.65 (DumaOS 3.3.688)

The upload completes, the router reboots, but the firmware version never changes.

My router is XR1000 v1.

Is there anything else I can try, or could this be a bootloader/firmware issue?

Thank you.
