Luis5409 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hello I recently purchased a NetDuma R3 gaming router and we just finished setting it up and we are experiencing higher lag/ latency than before. Normally i would have a 45-50 MS ping but after setting up the router and connecting to the nearest server/host it still gives me a very high ping even up to 120 MS. I play mostly Call Of Duty and Arc Raiders also competitive Overwatch . Once I downloaded the DumaOS app i set up the router using the basic steps than we enabled the "bridge feature" on our home Router once we did that we also have 1 Nat running on the home modem and 1 Nat on the R3 modem to help the speed and avoid traffic issues. But still are experiencing high latency. I live in Puerto Rico and i am connected via ethernet to my home internet. The geo filtering hasnt helped much either on top of i cant see ANY Call of duty servers under the Ping Heatmap option. I already cloud synched the modem like 10 times and still the same. I appreciate any help or any guide . Thank you again
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted 3 hours ago Administrators Posted 3 hours ago What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to? If you've enabled bridge then that would pass all traffic through to the R3 so speed/traffic wouldn't be an issue so what do you mean you have 1 NAT running on the modem? Are ALL devices connected to the R3? What are the speeds you pay for/receive? Have you entered those speeds into the router? How have you setup Congestion Control? How have you setup SmartBOOST? How have you setup the Geo-Filter exactly? - You should disable Geo-Latency in the Geo-Filter settings otherwise you can get games outside your radius that may have a higher ping. Where are you/have you been checking the ping, in game? With Ping Heatmap the game can change the servers they use frequently and so it can become outdated (we updated it last week and it's already out of date) but we are aware, I already informed the team earlier today so they will update Heatmap via the cloud as soon as they can. It won't affect your ability to use the Geo-Filter though.
Luis5409 Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago The Model of the modem/ router the R3 is connected to is a Sagemcom Model F@ST3896 LLA. We deactivated the NAT type with the internet service provider because our home modem has Double NAT which can slow down traffic. Yes all the devices are connected to the R3 / we have all the devices (2 PS5 consoles via ethernet) We pay for 500 MB per Sec I dont think we put the speeds into the router. How do we do that ? No we have not set up congetstion control how do we do that Yes We did set up smart boost We just now disabled the Geo-Latency switch . We are in San Juan , Puerto Rico we have been checking the ping in-game as well as the NetDuma app when we click the server that we are playing on
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted 2 hours ago Administrators Posted 2 hours ago Do you mean that you had a CG-NAT but they've taken you off it now? You can change it from the Speed Test option bottom left then Advanced. Congestion Control can be set in Ping Optimizer > Advanced, bottom left under speed test. This is one of the most important aspects to ensure you have a smooth connection. Would suggest setting to Always or Auto and start with 70% for Download & Upload and you can experiment from there based on your experiences to see what works best for you. How did you set SmartBOOST, what priorities did you set, did you do just activities or add the device as well? What gaming device are you playing on?
Luis5409 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Yes CG - NAT because their modem has Double NAT i guess more security . But yes they removed it I did notice and I changed and put the proper download / upload speed Ok im working on Congestion control right now and applying the settings I just added my 2 consoles with SmartBOOST . we are gaming on a playstation 5
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted 1 hour ago Administrators Posted 1 hour ago Add Gaming as well as an activity to SmartBOOST but let us know how you get on with all the changes when you have a chance to test it properly
Luis5409 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Yes i did that, any other setting? I was looking for 20 ms to 30 ms. Changed all the settings as required. Im pretty much getting the same ping as before 49-50 ms (withoutthe R3)
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted 29 minutes ago Administrators Posted 29 minutes ago Okay that's good that the high pings seem to be resolved. Given your location I'm not sure it's going to be possible for you to get 20-30ms as a lot of that would heavily rely on how good the routing is from your ISP, more likely it'll be you having that 45-50ms ping more consistently and be unaffected by any devices in your home but when Ping Heatmap has been updated you'll get a better idea of what the lowest ping is that you'll be able to achieve. That's it for Settings I would say, any adjustments would likely just be to Congestion Control but you can experiment with that.
