Dirtytamato Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Hello. My wife surprised me with the r3 this Christmas! Things have been great with this router. There has been one small issue that I can't resolve though, and that is that my eufy robovac isn't seeing my 2.4 wifi in the list, and the other issue is that my garage door opener randomly disconnects even though wifi hasn't dropped. Both devices have about a 50-55 dbm where they are located. Current setup: 2.4 band channel 1 20 mhz width 5g band channel 104 160 mhz width. Both have different names but same password.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Friday at 03:07 PM Administrators Posted Friday at 03:07 PM Setup a guest 2.4GHz WiFi network, is it able to connect to that instead?
Dirtytamato Posted Friday at 06:51 PM Author Posted Friday at 06:51 PM No, the guest Wi-Fi does not let the vacuum connect. But I have been able to get it to connect to our smart home hub via access point mode. The only issue is that the router's 2.4 is very unstable and so the vacuum only connects if the smart hub connects. At this point I'm thinking that there is a ton of interference and I might need a range extender for just 2.4 devices
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Friday at 07:02 PM Administrators Posted Friday at 07:02 PM My vacuum specifically has trouble connecting also, all my other smart devices are fine otherwise on 2.4 or guest 2.4 - the extender method would be the better option but what I do and try it at your own risk is remove the password for the guest WiFi network, for some reason that makes it work. Then to make it slightly more secure you can make it so the guest WiFi doesn't broadcast (i.e. it doesn't show up on WiFi lists for anyone to connect to). This works for me as I don't have many neighbours but may not be an option for you.
Dirtytamato Posted Friday at 07:06 PM Author Posted Friday at 07:06 PM Well I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I think I will purchase a good wifi extender and go that route. But ya all my other devices connect, they are just weak. But thanks for your help Netduma Fraser 1
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Friday at 07:47 PM Administrators Posted Friday at 07:47 PM Let us know how you get on, to try and make the others work a bit better: Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that Ensure the router is in an elevated position - not on a metal surface Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proximity ~3 feet if possible Set the antennae to this position _ | | _
Dirtytamato Posted Friday at 07:50 PM Author Posted Friday at 07:50 PM Ya I've addressed all of this. Thanks though Krush and Netduma Fraser 2
Dirtytamato Posted Saturday at 01:30 AM Author Posted Saturday at 01:30 AM I also have these logs that kept saying "WARNING". I wanted to send these to you and then do a factory reset as a hail Mary on the 2.4 band issues. r3 logs.txt
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Saturday at 09:59 AM Administrators Posted Saturday at 09:59 AM That's just log spam, we're aware of it, you can ignore it as it won't be causing any issues. You can reset if you like but it's unlikely to make a big difference. You're saying the connection is weak but are they experiencing any issues with the WiFi specifically? Dirtytamato 1
Dirtytamato Posted Saturday at 05:46 PM Author Posted Saturday at 05:46 PM After messing with it a lot, the 2.4 band is actually unusable because it is so weak. I use wifiman for my analyser and it will say the 2.4 is pretty strong, but then the speed test will say like 1 mbps if I'm lucky. Also the wifi drops off completely every 30 seconds or so, just like my r2. It's fine though. I never expected the 2.4 to be any better with this router. I just need to get an access point dedicated to 2.4 so I can disable 2.4 on the router
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Saturday at 06:17 PM Administrators Posted Saturday at 06:17 PM It definitely shouldn't be that bad. What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Are ALL devices connected to the R3? What are the speeds you pay for/receive? Have you entered those speeds into the router? How have you setup Congestion Control? How have you setup SmartBOOST? Where are you testing the speeds?
Dirtytamato Posted Saturday at 07:00 PM Author Posted Saturday at 07:00 PM The modem is ISP supplied mounted out side the house with a basic main cat5 line running to the r3 wan port. Everything is connected to the r3 I pay for 250/250 mbps I get a little over 250 in the r3 speed tests, but I still have it entered as 250/250 Congestion control is default (auto) Smart boost is gaming, cloud gaming, work from home, and streaming Test speeds on 5g is about 260mbps from anywhere around the house, and 2.4 is basically non existent unless I am 5 feet from the router, then I get 30-50 mbps
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Saturday at 07:45 PM Administrators Posted Saturday at 07:45 PM What's the layout of your house approx and where is the router located within it?
Dirtytamato Posted Saturday at 07:54 PM Author Posted Saturday at 07:54 PM It a rambler/ranch style 3400 sq ft. with the router in the basement in the utility room not in the middle of the house
Dirtytamato Posted Saturday at 08:32 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:32 PM Also why are these lights always off? The only time I've seen them on is when I start it up for the first time. Reboots and power cycles don't fix it either. Not a big deal, I just thought it was odd

They don't show solid constantly, they'll flicker based on usage
Dirtytamato Posted Saturday at 09:26 PM Author Posted Saturday at 09:26 PM Ok thank you. I'll follow up when I get an extender Netduma Fraser 1
Dirtytamato Posted Sunday at 01:53 AM Author Posted Sunday at 01:53 AM So a new issue has presented itself about 4 times now. The lan ports just completely shut off. I can reboot it and it will work until I launch bf6 and then she shut off again. I don't even know how to explain it any better cause I don't understand it
Dirtytamato Posted Sunday at 03:00 AM Author Posted Sunday at 03:00 AM R3_2026-01-04T02_59_45.189Z_logs.txt
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Sunday at 09:45 AM Administrators Posted Sunday at 09:45 AM Just to clarify is this only happening when launching BF6 and is it only the device you're launching it on that experiences it? From the logs it indicates its the device in port 3 only losing internet. I've given you Early Access, please upgrade and see if it continues on this firmware please: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/58424-new-r3-firmware-dumaos-40645/
Dirtytamato Posted Sunday at 09:50 AM Author Posted Sunday at 09:50 AM Hi. Yes as far as I can see, its only bf6. Once I get disconnected, all other lan connected devices also Lose connection. I can play bf6 over WiFi without any disconnection, but it gives micro stutters the entire time. My r2 never had this problem. I will update and report back. Thanks
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Sunday at 06:11 PM Administrators Posted Sunday at 06:11 PM That is very strange, what changes on the router have you made other than Geo-Filter, Congestion Control & SmartBOOST?
Dirtytamato Posted Sunday at 06:32 PM Author Posted Sunday at 06:32 PM None. I've left everything default. Just to follow up from last night, I have updated to the new firmware and factory reset the router. Currently everything seems great! Played 3 rounds of bf6 so far with no micro stutters and no dosconects. the wifi status light are actually functioning now. I will update if somthing changes Netduma Fraser 1
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Sunday at 06:55 PM Administrators Posted Sunday at 06:55 PM Fantastic to hear! Thanks for the update
Dirtytamato Posted Monday at 12:48 AM Author Posted Monday at 12:48 AM It looks like we are back to square one. I logged back onto bf6 and got the typical 10-15 minutes of game time before it kicked all hard wired devices offline. I have since rebooted it so they will come back online. Not sure what it is about bf6 that this router doesn't like.
