Dirtytamato Posted yesterday at 09:43 PM Posted yesterday at 09:43 PM Hello. My wife surprised me with the r3 this Christmas! Things have been great with this router. There has been one small issue that I can't resolve though, and that is that my eufy robovac isn't seeing my 2.4 wifi in the list, and the other issue is that my garage door opener randomly disconnects even though wifi hasn't dropped. Both devices have about a 50-55 dbm where they are located. Current setup: 2.4 band channel 1 20 mhz width 5g band channel 104 160 mhz width. Both have different names but same password.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted 7 hours ago Administrators Posted 7 hours ago Setup a guest 2.4GHz WiFi network, is it able to connect to that instead?
Dirtytamato Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago No, the guest Wi-Fi does not let the vacuum connect. But I have been able to get it to connect to our smart home hub via access point mode. The only issue is that the router's 2.4 is very unstable and so the vacuum only connects if the smart hub connects. At this point I'm thinking that there is a ton of interference and I might need a range extender for just 2.4 devices
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted 3 hours ago Administrators Posted 3 hours ago My vacuum specifically has trouble connecting also, all my other smart devices are fine otherwise on 2.4 or guest 2.4 - the extender method would be the better option but what I do and try it at your own risk is remove the password for the guest WiFi network, for some reason that makes it work. Then to make it slightly more secure you can make it so the guest WiFi doesn't broadcast (i.e. it doesn't show up on WiFi lists for anyone to connect to). This works for me as I don't have many neighbours but may not be an option for you.
Dirtytamato Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Well I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I think I will purchase a good wifi extender and go that route. But ya all my other devices connect, they are just weak. But thanks for your help Netduma Fraser 1
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted 3 hours ago Administrators Posted 3 hours ago Let us know how you get on, to try and make the others work a bit better: Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that Ensure the router is in an elevated position - not on a metal surface Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proximity ~3 feet if possible Set the antennae to this position _ | | _
Dirtytamato Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Ya I've addressed all of this. Thanks though Netduma Fraser 1
