A few seconds after logging onto wireless my R3 drops the connections to my phone. I thought this was due to my aging phone but recently got an Iphone 16e and it still happens.

If i go back into the phone settings the network usually re-appears and re-connects right away. Its then hit or miss if it stays connected or not but its usually intermittent. This has happened ever since i got my R3 in August 2024

Sometimes,  if i attempt to login to the router using the app from the phone around the same time i reconnect - i get an unknown error on the app - as if the router is refusing my devices connection or is too busy to accept it.

My wifi setup is pretty much out of the box, name broadcasting, 2.4/5.0ghz set to auto and WPA-PSK2 encryption. Usually around 3 wifi devices online at any given time. No guest wifi is enabled

My room is across the hallway to the living room where the router is located just through the door - the total distance is 4.7m. Iv moved the antenna's orientation around to try manipulate the signal but iv had no joy. Netduma says the connection as Fair/Poor from device manager even with both room doors open.

Router runs the latest firmware: v4.0.540. No reports of this problem happening on any other device.

Any suggestions appreciated!

It's interesting that it's only your phone, regardless of the phone that you're using. Is it possible to test using someone elses phone in your room to see if they get the same issue? Do you get the same issue on your phone when you're in the living room?

My phone is my only wireless device and I haven't noticed it anywhere else around the house. Could be poor signal due to the layout of the house but why would it drop and pick straight back up - is it possible its happening when switching bands?

Iv done a factory reset as a precaution so il see how things go. I appear to have a stronger signal already and Il also test another phone later on when others are around.

Its only from doom scrolling and would be a total non issue if i could trust WIFI assist to kick me back onto 5G but coverage is spotty.

If it's not happening anywhere else other than your room then it is likely poor signal/a dead zone in your room. The signal is probably spotty, just about reaches but as such interference can drop it very easily. If it happens again then split the bands and then use 2.4GHz exclusively in your room and it should be more stable.
