Port Forwarding/DMZ is a buggy mess

Recommended Posts

When I add device to DMZ, all other port forwarding for other devices stops working.

Also, setting up another device with PF (separate IP) and getting "Ports overlap with a different rule."

Nintendo Switch calls for 1-65535 to be open for Nat type "A". If I just setup switch, this works.

If i add my PC under DMZ, switch no longer works and PC is getting moderate.

Remove Switch and leave PC DMZ it then shows Open NAT on PC.

Add switch back, Switch goes to "B" and PC is "Moderate".

It's not a "buggy mess", DMZ passes ALL traffic through to that device, therefore you can't then make a port forwarding rule to tell the router to do the opposite of the DMZ.

You can't port forward 1 port for multiple devices, that's why it mentions the overlap.

You should NEVER put your PC in the DMZ, this is a huge security risk.

NAT just determines who you're able to connect to, as most games are server based it's less of a concern for it to be Open. If you're playing with friends then as long as they are open you can connect to each other.

When the DMZ passes all traffic to that device, should I disable the UPnP option if only one device is connected via LAN cable to R3 (PS5)!? I have 2 phones and one TV connected to R3 via Wi-Fi.Tnx
