Ultrax92
Hello, I'm having an issue using the hybrid VPN with the Netduma R3. I'm using NordVPN, and with my previous router, I used an access token and the connection worked perfectly. However, now I'm constantly getting an error in games saying "the host is not responding." I’ve double-checked that I entered the correct username and password, and I copied and pasted the contents of the .ovpn file directly from the NordVPN website. Ultrax92
In the game, I am connected to the VPN, but it's impossible to start a match. In the meantime, I'm using the Geo-Filter, but I still don't really understand how it works — sometimes I'm within the area I set on the map, and other times I'm not. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 8 Administrators Share Posted April 8 If HVPN shows you as connected then assuming you've done a rule for the device it'll be connected to the VPN. The game has made strides towards counteracting VPNs which is likely what you're seeing here, especially if the server you've chosen is far away
Ultrax92
On my old router, I connect using a VPN client and I’m on the same servers — everything works fine. The Geo-Filter works on the same server I’m connected to with the VPN, so the issue is clearly not the game but the VPN connection through the router. Also, the Geo-Filter only works for 1 or 2 games, then on the 3rd game it stops working — I have to restart everything. It’s really frustrating. I just got this router, but in the end nothing works properly. I’m going to start a return process because nothing is functioning as it should. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 8 Administrators Share Posted April 8 I wouldn't suggest using 1.1.1.1 for DNS, remove that and try it again. You don't need to use the VPN & Geo-Filter to force a server, just the Geo-Filter would do. You're trying to filter encrypted traffic essentially so there is no guarantees there, that's why we don't suggest using a VPN when playing, that and the increased ping. Ultrax92
I don’t use the VPN for gaming — I need to geolocate myself elsewhere for other purposes, regardless of the ping. I don’t use the Geo-Filter with the VPN; I use them separately. But even then, I still appear to be located where I actually live. Regarding the 1.1.1.1 address, it was set automatically — I didn’t configure anything related to it.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 8 Administrators Share Posted April 8 What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Are ALL devices connected to the R3? So VPN enabled for the console but Geo-Filter disabled? How have you done the VPN rule exactly? Remove the 1.1.1.1 DNS anyway
Ultrax92
The R3 is directly connected to my internet box via Ethernet cable. I removed the 1.1.1.1 DNS. All devices are connected to the R3 through an RJ45 hub (I also tried using Wi-Fi, but that didn’t work either). I tried two methods: using only the VPN, and using only the Geo-Filter. Ultrax92
As I mentioned in my email, if I didn’t want to continue the troubleshooting process, I wouldn’t be replying to you. What is the next step for the troubleshooting?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 8 Administrators Share Posted April 8 Just to clarify, you're getting the same error with both the VPN on its own and the Geo-Filter on its own? Does that then mean that with the Geo-Filter disabled you're not getting the same error? The internet box do you mean just a simple box on the wall (ONT) or an ISP router provided by your ISP? You're using a switch for wired connections is that right? Just trying to understand the overall setup. Assuming you are getting the issue with the Geo-Filter enabled but not without, please provide a screenshot of the Geo-Filter page when you see the error happen. Do you see anything blocked outside your radius when it happens? What firmware version are you on currently?
Ultrax92
No, I can't start a game with the VPN, and with the geo-filter, it sometimes works, usually just one or two games, then nothing. I have to disable everything, turn it off, and then turn it back on; sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't. No, I'm using my real box, and the R3 is connected directly via RJ45 Cat6. No, it doesn't block anything, but it doesn't connect me to the target servers.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 15 Administrators Share Posted April 15 What is the VPN location you're using and the Geo-Filter location?
Ultrax92
For the VPN, I've tried a lot of locations: Egypt, Dubai, ZA, and others, but nothing works. Same for the geo filter. I've tried a lot of locations on the map near me, some a little further away, and some on the other side of the world, but it's always the same thing. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 20 Administrators Share Posted April 20 Okay thank you, what firmware version are you on currently? (You can see this as a number on the top right of the interface) Have you made any port forwarding rules/DMZ/static routes/disabled UPnP on the R3? What is the platform you're playing on and if it's a console are you receiving an open NAT?

Krush
Krush
Tu es chez quel FAI ? Offre Le TP Link te sert a quoi a l’origine ?
Tu as quoi comme ping ?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 24 Administrators Share Posted April 24 Being able to see a screenshot or video of what you see on the Geo-Filter when it happens will make it much easier for us to see what is happening and help guide you in the right direction Krush
