i recently got new internet and a new provider. When i put it in bridge mode, it recognizes the xr500 as a connected device, but using the 192.168.1.1 it does not let me into the xr500, it says page took too long to respond.

While connected to the router via a wired Windows PC, open command prompt, type ipconfig press enter and then post a screenshot of the results here please.

sorry this time i hard wired laptop to the xr500 while in bridge mode with the 10.0.0.1 and it worked.  i just cant get into it without the wire

Yes wirelessly,  10.0.0.1 doesn’t work but wired does which is fine I guess. New question, I have 1gb up and down and I have a cat6 cable from the xr500 into my console with qos has all upload of Xbox.  When I speed test the Xbox series x, it can’t get into the 700s, but the download is much higher. How come???

Is it definitely connected to the XR wireless? Do the ipconfig I mentioned previously but connected via WiFi and provide a screenshot of what you see.

You don't need to allocate it all your upload, games barely use any bandwidth, usually less than 1Mbps, giving it more doesn't make it use more.

The console speed tests are estimates - it usually says this on the test itself. If you get your expected speeds via a wired PC to speedtest.net then you won't be limited.

Well what does the QoS do then if it doesn’t make it use more when u put it on certain devices?

The purpose of QoS is to ensure that all your devices can be used at the same time without causing each other to lag/buffer and to place priorities on devices you choose.

Giving the game more bandwidth wouldn't do anything, this is across the board, the game requires a certain amount of bandwidth and that's it, every game uses very little.

I can see it, could you do another via ethernet when the same thing has happened please? Also you mentioned " i hard wired laptop to the xr500 while in bridge mode" are you referring to the ISP modem/router being in bridge mode or you've set the XR500 in AP mode?

via ethernet i am able to get into the xr500. yes the isp modem/router is in bridge mode.

For the WiFi card:

  1. Right-click on the Network/WiFi Windows Network Icon on the PC on the bottom-right hand side of your screen
  2. Open Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Click Change Adapter Settings.
  4. Right-click your connection and go to Properties.
  5. Uncheck the box next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) to disable it.

Then try accessing via WiFi please

forgot to respond, my bad. No it did not let me get in still

new question, while using the router for console gaming. It disconnects says must have active network connection, but the router doesnt actually lose internet. Any fixes??

Do you have Smart Connect enabled for WiFi? If so, if you disable that and connect to 2.4 or 5GHz manually can you still not access?

Where is it saying that exactly, on the console dashboard, game etc?

it is enabled, but its grayed out and i cant toggle it off.  Its saying in the game, while playing it will kick me out and show,  must have active network connection to play online matches. Even though the router never loses internet.

That's very bizarre, could you provide a screenshot of the WiFi page please?

If you disable the Geo-Filter do you still get kicked?

I think there are probably 3 separate issues here which may be confusing things, they're unlikely to all be related.

  1. Unable to access the interface over WiFi
  2. Unable to disable Smart Connect
  3. Disconnecting from games

Is that correct? If so:

  1. When connected via WiFi you're getting an IP address that appears to be a public IP. This would leave me to believe that it's not connected to the XR WiFi but the ISP modem router WiFi which would also mean it's not in bridge mode - could you verify if this is the case please?
  2. Have you changed any WiFi settings on the main WiFi page or in Advanced WiFi?
  3. When you get disconnected from the map, even with the Geo-Filter off do you notice a server being blocked? Could you get the log from the System Information page when it happens please?
