Endless matchmaking due to "FAILED TO JOIN'S PARTY/Unable to connect to host" error message in BO6.

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm having an issue as stated in the title that I can't match make in BO6 due this "FAILED TO JOIN'S PARTY/Unable to  connect to host" error message while using the R1. It is the same problem whether I'm in filtering mode or not. I'm on PS5 and as soon as I bypass the R1 and wire in directly from my isp router I can match make normally. The R1 is on firmware 3.0.207, is in a dmz from the isp router. I have the necessary ports forwarded and have an open NAT. QOS is off. VPN is off. I have been using similar settings for years in COD and haven't had this problem. It really started to ramp up and has been increasingly worse since December 2025. I'd really appreciate some ideas please.

Remove the port forwarding then check if it continues, if it does then put the PS5 in the DMZ on the R1, does it then continue?

Thanks for the quick response on a Sunday. Tried both and the same error occurs.

If you've not changed anything on the R1 there isn't any reason from our side for why it would have happened. Did it occur after changing any settings? Any change in your setup etc?

No changes on my end before it started happening this past December. I did update the firmware after I started trying to troubleshoot, but that didn't help/change anything.

Was it after an update on the game or a console update etc? How are you disabling Geo-Filtering when it's still occurring - could you provide a screenshot please?

It's hard to say concerning the update because BO6 is constantly updated, so undoubtedly there was one.  I just can't be sure which one. Best I can say is the timing when it started.  I'm just using the toggle switch in the Geo-Filter to turn it on and off.

If you factory reset the R1 from the interface and then go through the wizard and then don't change any settings on the main interface does it then work properly?

That was going to be next on my list. Thanks. I'll try that and let you know.

The factory reset seems to helped. I suppose I assumed the firmware update would've done the same thing, apologies. I can now get matches very quickly with filtering off, and with the expected amount of delay with various levels of filtering on. The "FAILED TO JOIN'S PARTY/Unable to  connect to host" error message seems to be when the server/player is rejected by the R1. Previously it just seemed to be rejecting everything. I don't see the error now with filtering off, and briefly with filtering on before I do join a match. Thank you very much for your help.

@Netduma Fraser I was curious about the issue, Colonel_Fobin had, I did check had the same issue. I cant find a game I get the FAILED TO JOIN'S PARTY/Unable to  connect to host" error too.

I tried with filter off but still getting same error, any other advice I would try?

Is this on the R1 as well after upgrading to the latest?

Did you factory reset after? It's a big jump from the previous version so would highly suggest it

Yeah I did all the usual stuff, play around with settings. It doesn't work anymore like it use too. Looks like its been blocked somehow finds a lobby and cancels with the error.

Are you seeing anything blocked on the map when it happens?

Well there is nothing indicating its been blocked from Geo filter screen, I would explain better. While PS5 is turned on call of duty is loading on main title screen. Normally servers pop up/appear for few seconds then when searching for a lobby it find a host/server.

But this time around no server pop ups on the world map (Geo filter screen), when searching for a game nothing happens the geo filter map is blank eventually I get ''Unable to  connect to host" in game screen.

I have tried searching for a game with geo filter on and off, played around with filter settings, search for games by ping as assist etc nothing works. Feels like its blocked by Netduma or your end something has change

Other than cloud updates which generally apply to all routers and so would cause issues on other routers which it hasn't, we haven't changed anything with the R1 for awhile. Did it happen immediately upon upgrading or recently? If you disable QoS fully does it work?
