Xr500 geo filter unable to add device

Recommended Posts

As above, it’s always one issue or another using this device, the new issue is being unable to add new device on to the geo filter, once loading up the page I get an error message saying uncaught uncaught object lol

any work around?

If you click okay does it allow you to add one or does it also produce the error when you try to add the device?

Have you deleted a device from the Device Manager recently, prior to the issue happening?

So when I click on geo filter it’s giving me the tour as if it’s the first time I’ve set up the router which isn’t the case, then the error uncaught unmatched device shows up, then when I click add device there’s literally no options it’s as if it’s not registering the click, I can see it’s registering but there’s no response from the command to show the list of devices to add,

I get constant unknown devices added to my network so yes I am manually deleting them from device manager, the devices that are required are named on the network

The tour is either because you've cleared your cache/cookies or you're using a bookmark/loading the URL which includes the tour in it - if you use one of these URLs does that stop the tour http://routerlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1

Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on your PC? If so it could be blocking commands on the interface, either disable it then check or add the URLS as trusted sites and then check please. A browser based Adblocker could also be blocking it.

Did you delete a device that was added to the Geo-Filter at the time by any chance?

Managed to fix the issue, however another has arisen,

ps5 geo filter keeps on matching me with people outside my radius, and when a game comes in my radius it doesn’t allow me to join the lobby .. connection lost… and it doesn’t even load up the ping to the servers in my region,

issue doesn’t exist on ps4, any help?

The game is fc 25

geo filter is set using polygon mode for servers London, Dublin and France, but still tries to connect me to the blocked servers, obviously it’s annoying getting into the lobby just to read connection lost to opponent every time

Works better now,

Fraser I can’t seem to understand how when I play on 5ghz I get an A for bufferbloat, however when I play on 2.4ghz I’m getting constant F for bufferbloat, I’m changing the sliders on qos and there’s so much disparity between the bands?

the gameplay on both sides is rotten to its core my players on fc are getting bullied left right and centre and feel like they’re not even in the game compared to my opponents players

any advice?

Presumably because your max throughput on 5GHz is higher than 2.4GHz. Regardless, I'd suggest testing with downloads while following: https://support.netduma.com/frequently-asked-questions/legacyfaqs/test-your-ping/ start with a high value e.g 95%, test, decrease 10%, test, decrease 10% etc, until you get to a value that is pretty good, then try 5% either side of that value to see if it can be improved. Important to note that Download/Upload on CC don't have to be the same value & you may have a better experience with differing values. This is more of a real world test.

Seems to be better getting A bufferbloat 2.4, however seeing packet loss on rare occasions in fifa 25 and latency spikes come very rarely, but the gameplay is unresponsive on 5ghz but there is literally no packet loss or latency issues

is the firmware update for the xr500 working? Just realised I’ve been behind on the 2.3 version

What do you mean is the update working? FIFA seems to be renowned for those types of issues. 2.4GHz is better stability wise but because of that most wireless devices even headphones etc use it so it could be prone to interference from other devices. 5GHz is mainly just good for speeds but walls, distance, other devices can impact it much more easily.

Also ps5 has gone back to being unrecognised by the xr500

Unrecognised in what way?

Using the geo filter searching for games on the ps5 and it doesn’t show me which server I’m connecting to, then I changed back to the ps4 and it’s showing again, however other issues arise, I’ve noticed when using traffic pri for the ps5 the packets prioritised are sky rocketing to like 200000 packets prioritised, change this to my ps4 and the packets that are prioritised are more realistic like 200 per game or something like that, also im playing wirelessly and I’m right near the router but I’m getting f bufferbloat and then it’s changing back to b or a without changing anything, on top of this doing a speed test the xr500 is telling me my Speeds are 300 down and 750 up

my service is 300 up and down when doing the test on my main router - I have wifi switched off on this router and all devices are connected to the xr500, I changed my ps4 back to my standard router and my gameplay has become more responsive compared to the xr500

Check the IP on the PS5 itself, check the device you think it is on the Device Manager, do the IPs match?

What service are you adding the console with?

Testing bufferbloat over WiFi is always going to be hit or miss, you're trying to create a constant from a method of connection that fluctuates. Test bufferbloat over a wired device if possible using the steps I provided and then once you've got those settings leave them as is. You don't need to test bufferbloat constantly. Bufferbloat also only occurs when your network is saturated which cannot happen when Congestion Control is active.

Ignore the speed test on the router, it rarely ever shows the correct speed, as long as you get expected speeds via a wired speed test on speedtest.net then you're good.

How have you set the main router to ensure all traffic flows to the XR? E.g. XR in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode

Ps5 ip has been reserved however it shows up as offline on device manager, never does this with my ps4.

i had it prio’d as games console over wifi same with my ps4 rn,

so router to xr500 through the lan cable, no dmz no bridge mode at all

Put the XR WAN IP in the DMZ on your main router. Are you leaving the PS5 in an instant on/standby state the majority of the time? When it shows as offline, if you reboot the console does it then appear online correctly?

Ps5 is not left in standby when I’m in matchmaking options on fifa 25 it shows as offline lol

does putting xr500 in DMZ make any difference compared to it being off?

If you reboot the console before playing does it then show offline?

Yes, it will help ensure you have an Open NAT as well as prevent the ISP modem from influencing the connection that the XR is trying to control

Open this device completely for internet sharing via IPv4 (exposed host)
This setting can be enabled only for one device.
Attention: A completely exposed host is visible and accessible in the internet without protection. FRITZ!Box firewall protection is disabled for this device.

im skeptical in doing this as all the devices will be exposed on the xr500?
