Dartchen Posted January 1 Posted January 1 About two weeks ago, I started experiencing internet problems. After several visits from my ISP, we have narrowed the issue down to the router; my old router works fine. When I connect the modem to the R3, the internet light does not turn on, and I receive an "internet not available" message when attempting to connect to Wi-Fi. I encounter the same issue when trying to access the internet in setup mode. I have also tried a factory reset, but that did not resolve the problem. Is there anything else I can do? I ordered the router one year and one week ago...
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 2 Administrators Posted January 2 Reboot your modem, wait 2 minutes, then reboot the R3, wait 4 minutes then check to see if you get a connection. If not, do you know if you require anything like PPPoE/VLAN/DHCP identifiers to get a connection?
Dartchen Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Hi, after the reboots, the R3 still does not receive an internet signal. Nothing special should be required as far as identifiers. It worked great until a few weeks ago, and my old AC5300 router works fine now without any special settings. I miss the Netduma capabilities, though.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5 Administrators Posted January 5 I've given you Early Access, try the version there and see if that gets you internet https://forum.netduma.com/forum/151-netduma-r3-early-access/
Dartchen Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 I upgraded the R3 firmware and performed another factory reset, but I'm still not getting any internet connection. I can connect to the router without any issues. The power light, 2.4GHz light, and 5GHz light are on, and the port 4 light is flashing. However, the internet light is off, and the setup process doesn't detect an internet connection. Additionally, the lights on the back of the modem are flashing. I've tested all of the cables and the internet is working fine with the AC5300. Any other ideas?

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5 Administrators Posted January 5 Connect the R3 to your old router, can you get internet through it that way?
Dartchen Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Yup, going Modem -> AC5300 -> R3 -> Computer, I get the internet light on the R3 and internet at the computer.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5 Administrators Posted January 5 Okay that's good, on the AC5300, could you provide a screenshot of its internet settings please?
Dartchen Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Hi, here are most of the settings in case you see something. If there is an option you want to see that I missed, just let me know. I appreciate the help 😃
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 6 Administrators Posted January 6 That's great, thank you very much. Copy the Asus router MAC address, then disconnect it, put back the modem > R3 setup and in R3 settings change the MAC address to the Asus one you copied. Apply, reboot the modem, wait 2 minutes, reboot the R3, wait 4 minutes then check if you have internet please.
Dartchen Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Cloning the MAC address seemed to fix it. You'll have to explain to me what went wrong someday 😃 Speeds are about 20% faster with the R3 than the Asus, and I haven't configured it yet. Krush 1
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 6 Administrators Posted January 6 That's great to hear, thanks for the update! In some cases ISPs need to be informed when you use new equipment, why I have no idea, seems like a colossal waste of everyone's time but the MAC address change can bypass it because they've already approved the Asus - to them you're still using the Asus.
