RevyRevv
Hi folks, hoping to get some WiFi wizards to take a peek at my issue. Currently everything else is great about the router and the features that come with its DumaOS 3 and all... Except it can't download from Steam. Every other facet of the internet works fine, download from other services perfectly fine. Steam, no. So. I have a Netgear Nighthawk XR1000, connected directly to a T-Mobile 5G Home Internet Gateway. I have enabled IPv6 passthrough and the QoS auto enable option. No other changes made so far. Using the T-Mobile built in WiFi is slower overall but I get regular speeds on Steam downloads (20MB/s or more), but if I try it with my router instead which is faster everywhere else I get like 350kb/s My PC is on Zorin OS if that matters, but I've seen from Google's people having this issue on Windows as well but answers vary so wildly I figured I'd come to the source. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 23, 2024 Administrators Share Posted December 23, 2024 What are your expected/paid for speeds and what have you entered into the router? What percentages are you using for Congestion Control?

What percentages are you using for Congestion Control? Hello, thank you. Typical speeds are from 250-350mbs. My downloads typically hover in the 20+ MB area. In the QoS section I see it has been set to 450mbs. As far as congestion control I just moved the gaming section up to like 30, Livestream to 13, and the rest are at 7. However the issue persists even if I turn the congestion control feature off as well.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 23, 2024 Administrators Share Posted December 23, 2024 That's Bandwidth Allocation but what are the percentages set to in the Congestion Control panel?

Oh sorry. Yeah the sliders for percentage are at 70, which is what it recommended I do if I remember correctly.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 23, 2024 Administrators Share Posted December 23, 2024 Disable QoS fully from the Congestion Control menu then check what download speeds you get please

I didn't get the email notification like I did for the previous updates, or I just missed it. I turned it off and still seeing the same download speeds unfortunately.. and it really is specifically Steam. I can't find any other scenario where my download is throttled like that. OnlyGamer
Steam has settings under the downloads to throttle speeds maybe that is doing it.When steam is open look at bottom and click manage downloads then you should see a gear in top right corner click it and should open a menu called downloads. Make sure throttle speeds is not enabled and set region to closest to you. you can disable some other things on that menu to help speeds also but will have to test for best results. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 27, 2024 Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2024 I feel like the above has to be the solution as it doesn't make sense why only that specific program would be encountering the issue - if everything else works through the router then it indicates an issue elsewhere, i.e. the program or the PC RevyRevv
