DARKNESS
@ADhillonI am quite certain that this would not occur unless you are using another router that is conflicting. Could you please provide me with more details about your setup?
ADhillon
I have my main router that has an ethernet going into the duma. I never had an issue when I was using a different router doing this, so I don't quite know why this is happening as it never happened when I first got my duma
DARKNESS
Could you please provide more details? Are you referring to a modem-router combo unit or a standalone modem followed by a router then XR1000.
ADhillon
Standalone Modem which is my main modem downstairs and then I have an ethernet plugged into the Modem that goes into the Duma to provide internet to my PC and PS5
DARKNESS
@ADhillonSo the modem does not have Wi-Fi capabilities, correct? So it the following Modem>XR1000?

DARKNESS
@ADhillonCould you please provide me with the model of your modem? I can check if there are any conflicting features as that weird.
ADhillon
how would I find this out
DARKNESS
You can verify the modem’s model by inspecting its label or accessing it through the router. However, checking the label is generally a quicker method.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 15 Administrators Share Posted December 15 By cutting your internet out do you actually mean that all devices connected to the router are losing access to the internet? What do you need to do to restore it?

DARKNESS
@ADhillonThis is not a modem; it is a router. Is this the correct device you have? You require an internet connection, so the device that provides internet would be either a cable modem or an ONT box. https://www.amazon.com/Linksys-Tri-Band-Wireless-coverage-MX4200/dp/B08NC66R2G
ADhillon
yes this is the router i have that gives me wifi and what i plug an ethernet into to connect to my duma. my internet is community fibre. thats it theres nothing else
DARKNESS
@ADhillonWhile I am not very experienced with ONTs, have you considered setting a static IP address on the XR1000? It is possible that when the Linksys MX4200 renews the DHCP, it may confuse the XR1000, resulting in internet connectivity issues or access problems to the web portal due to changing IP addresses. ADhillon
I don't think I have, if you could direct me how to do this it would be very helpful
DARKNESS
@ADhillonIf my memory serves me correctly, under the Settings >Internet Setup or WAN Setup. From there, you can modify the IP address to your desired value, ensuring it is not similar to the IP address of the Linksys MX4200. You'll be using that to login to the web portal going forward. ADhillon
is there a certain one I should be setting it to?
DARKNESS
@ADhillonNo, it just cannot be anywhere around 192.168.100.1. It can be any IP address such as 5.5.5.5 or 1.1.1.1, etc.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 16 Administrators Share Posted December 16 @DARKNESS Right logic but I think you're referring to the LAN IP for the XR and we want the WAN IP so it does have to be set within the given DHCP range of the Linksys. @ADhillon please let me know the answer to the below. Also following the above logic, access the Linksys interface and find where it shows listed devices, you should see the XR1000 listed there. If you can reserve/set a static IP for it there then go ahead and do that. If not you should be able to find the option in LAN or DHCP settings, then give it the IP it's already showing you on the device list and save. Then see if the issue happens again. 1 hour ago, Netduma Fraser said: By cutting your internet out do you actually mean that all devices connected to the router are losing access to the internet? ADhillon
On the duma, is this under Internet setup? it's the only place I can see my internet IP address. I've ticked "use static IP address" , does this need to match up with the IP address thats on my modem?

I'm referring to the Linksys, you don't need to do that on the XR - the linksys will have an open to do this but yes if you can't find it then it should match the IP shown on the Linksys for the XR. ADhillon
It doesnt let me change my IP address on Linksys but the XR Static IP address and my Linksys IP address are both different.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Friday at 03:55 PM Administrators Share Posted Friday at 03:55 PM You don't need to change your IP address, it'll have a DHCP reservation feature on there - take a screenshot of the interface and I can probably direct you. The Linksys will have its own LAN IP address, this is the IP you use to access it. For example 192.168.0.1. The Linksys will have a WAN IP address, this is the IP given to the Linksys from the internet side of the router - if you don't have another router connected to this side it would be the same as your public IP. Similarly, the XR will have its own LAN IP address, in this case it is 192.168.1.1, this is the IP you use to access the XR. It will be different to your Linksys. Again, the XR will have its own WAN IP address, in this case because the Linksys is on the internet side of the XR the WAN IP won't be your public IP but a local (LAN) IP that the Linksys has given it. For example 192.168.0.50. What I am asking is for you on the Linksys to take the XR WAN IP (which is the local IP the Linksys has given it) and make that static/reserved, this will ensure that IP doesn't change.
