Mercy
I pay for 1000down/42up internet speeds. I achieve 950down/42up speeds when i direct connect my PC to modem using a brand new CAT6 ethernet cable. When connecting my PC using the same ethernet cable to my XR1000 router, the max speeds i can get on my PC is about 650down/42up (sometimes lower). I have the speeds set in the router to the 950/42 since i havent seen it ever be any higher. Ive tried swapping out the ethernet cable that comes with the router to connect the router to the modem thinking that might be an issue. No fix. I do competitive gaming on Halo Infinite and would like to achieve my max speeds since the routing in Florida is horrible to their servers. I have tried factory resetting multiple times with up to date firmware and still have the same issue. QoS is off and traffic prioritization for PC is on while gaming. Is there some other settings i should be enabling/disabling that is limiting my speeds? Edit: I think i resolved the issue. QoS was technically still on (i had "never" selected), after completely disabling it using the three lined drop down box, speeds returned to normal! mikestro1
Oh NO.... You are a competitive gamer and turned of QOS? Why did you buy an XR1000 router? Please watch some video's about how to use QOS for gaming and buffer bloat. I have 1200 and 42 (comcast) Xfinity too. But I game with WAY less speeds for best ping, jitter and lag free games. Cheers! Mercy
@mikestro1I have been having major issues with my ISP recently (Spectrum...go figure 🤣), which the problem has been so bad ive had techs out many times. The local manager ended up giving me his cell phone number for a direct contact to help figure things out and keep updated with the repair process. First it was a local node that needed replaced...still was having issues after fixing. Finally they figured out a main line in my area had a crack in it and had to be replaced. I was plagued w/ constant packet loss and extremely slow speeds especially during peak congestion hours. With that being said, this was more of a way for me to confirm that things were actually fixed on their end. The slow speeds on my PC was messing with my head thinking they never actually fixed the problem lol. I bought the router and an Arris Surfboard SB8200 modem recently to upgrade from old hardware since they had huge discounts running on Amazon. I am new to the QoS benefits for bufferbloat etc, so i will def be looking into the best settings the XR1000 has to offer for gaming! Thanks for your input Mike!
