lex
Hi there, I have a spectrum gigabit modem, which is getting internet connection. I have tried two different R2 units, connected directly to the modem, power cycled, reset, etc, but neither will receive an internet connection from the modem. Is there a particular compatibility issue with this modem? Thank you!
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 30 Administrators Share Posted November 30 Do you know if you require PPPoE or VLAN for a connection? If not, reboot the modem, wait 2 minutes then reboot the R2, wait 4 minutes then go through the setup wizard (if you haven't already) and see if you get internet

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 1 Administrators Share Posted December 1 PPPoE/VLAN is something your ISP would need to tell you if you were to use a third party router - check the internet settings on the previous router you were using and see if you can mirror the details over to the R2 to see if you get internet. Can you also provide a picture of how you have them setup physically please?
lex
Sorry for the delayed reply, I have been traveling. The spectrum provided router receives internet from the modem with no issue. Unfortunately its one of these routers that is only accessible via the MySpectrum app and there's few advanced settings that can be accessed. There is a user guide which may be helpful: 20230413_WiFi 6E User Guide.pdf I'm not home at the moment to take a picture, however when I've tried the R2, its simply: Modem to ethernet out > R2 ethernet in (internet port), then R2 ethernet out straight to my PC, with no other devices. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 3 Administrators Share Posted December 3 That router would have those details pre-setup for you, especially if they restrict access to the interface. Worth double checking with them if you require anything specific to connect to the modem or if they require you to use their router - if they do, then it might be that if you copy the MAC address of the spectrum router and make the R2 use that you can trick it into working. Milkweed79
I have spectrum and their modems are finicky on getting the gateway handshake to the router. Unplug both the modem and the R2. wait 30 seconds. Plug in the modem. wait for it to fully boot. then plug in the r2. if you plug them both in at the same time the r2 boots before the modem and the handshake is not made Netduma Fraser
lex
I have tried that and unfortunately it has been unsuccessful. I'll give it another try
