Jermsz Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 If I'm using hybrid VPN via the OpenVPN protocol wouldn't smartest detect the traffic as OpenVPN and then whatever traffic I'm sending, like Netflix or YouTube for example? I know VPN encrypts traffic but does that also stop DPI? All traffic just shows as unknown and not even OpenVPN. Help/thoughts please
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 12, 2024 Administrators Posted November 12, 2024 As it's encrypted traffic DPI cannot determine what that traffic is - it should detect OpenVPN though. Resync the cloud please and then see if it updates
Jermsz Posted November 12, 2024 Author Posted November 12, 2024 After resynchronization, it's still not detecting OpenVPN traffic via DPI
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 12, 2024 Administrators Posted November 12, 2024 Okay thanks, I'll let the team know to have a look
Jermsz Posted November 13, 2024 Author Posted November 13, 2024 How long does it typically take for them to update to cloud in order to detect certain traffic?

Meaning.. that you'd still see all the traffic once it is "local" to the router. If this isn't the case, then how does geo-filtering work with hybrid-vpn?

It really depends, there is no set timeframe. 19 hours ago, MEGASH0N said: Total assumption from me as I'm new to Netduma, but I would have thought that the hybrid VPN was occurring on the "outside interface". It is possible we're not classifying traffic originating from DumaOS itself i.e. HVPN traffic isn't classified as OVPN
