Hybrid VPN On Playstation

Has anyone been able to get the Hybrid VPN feature to work on console, specifically with the specific features active?

I am able to get the VPN connected, but when it searches for a match it just says it cannot connect to a data center.

I can see it is VPNing my traffic when i look at my location in the COD settings. This is only when selecting all activities though. Ideally, id just want COD under the activities option to work for a better connection experience. Not sure if i need to keep changing locations. This is through IPVanish using open VPN.

I tried with the geo-fence on and off and re-synced cloud. Have restarted the console and game multiple times.

I'm asking if anyone has gotten the hybrid VPN feature to work with console in general. If i select all activities on my PlayStation under the hybrid VPN settings, it just endlessly searches for a match (have tried different servers/locations). If i try to just select a specific activity (Call of duty Series), it wont even search for a match and just says "Cannot connect to a data center".

I know VPN services such as SBMMOFF will VPN just your Call of duty traffic to keep the connection a bit better. The mention of geo-fence was really just me stating i tried it with and without that feature active.

It can work but it's possible they're blocking VPN IP addresses. Also if you're selecting a server very far away then you may be hitting a ping limit preventing you getting a game

I have tested the Hybrid VPN feature, and it works. You can check if it's enabled using the PlayStation Network browser. This may require you to use a secret method to access it. Once you're in, check if your IP address has changed, which verifies that the feature is working. You can check this on NordVPN's website or other websites. I'm a Playstation user, so I can demonstrate it if you'd like.

Shouldn't i show that in game though when u go to the connection setting and look at your location? Shouldn't have to use the browser. I know this works for other VPNs.

So for playstation i forwarded the black ops 6 ports:

Playstation 4/5:

TCP: 1935,3074,3478-3480

UDP: 3074,3478-3479

Add in netduma like this:

Does this look right?

Thank you!

Wouldn't you want to set the hybrid-vpn up to "policy based route" on those ports so that only matchmaking traffic is going through the VPN?  I'm actually still trying to figure out how to integrate my NordVPN OpenVPN with mine. So far I am unsuccessful. My NoLagVPN file does work though.

I have it set for only those ports to filter through the hybrid-vpn, is that what you meant? I was able to integrate with IPVanish, you have to put the config in the text box and then under it use

 <ca>
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----

(Your certificate)

-----END CERTIFICATE-----
</ca>

Not sure if thats whats holding you up, but i got it to work using that method.

@DJAYYHere’s the clip to help you: https://jam.dev/c/60593dd7-aef7-4e16-badd-419845ce0a8c. Type “bing.com” in a PS5 message, click the link, search for “IP leak test,” and check your IP before changing. Then enable HVPN and check if the IP has changed. NordVPN shows if you’re using their VPN.

@DJAYYPersonally, I encrypt all of my data. I do not take the risk of someone launching a denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on me simply because I engage in online discussions or participate in gaming activities. I acknowledge that some individuals may resort to such actions due to a sense of superiority or inferiority, but I do not condone their behavior. It is crucial to recognize that DDoS attacks are not a legitimate form of expression and should not be tolerated. In essence, it is advisable to ensure that all potential vulnerabilities are covered to mitigate the risk of such attacks. The appropriate time to disable HVPN is when you are certain that you are playing a game that does not leak IP addresses. Fortnite is a good example, unlike others. Additionally, never join a party chat on PlayStation if you know the DDoS user is on the party chat because that is the easiest way for them to get your IP address, so if you have HVPN enabled, they will not be able to do much, but you may disconnect for a few seconds.

The primary objective of utilizing specific ports is to relocate specific games while maintaining uninterrupted traffic for other activities (preserving internet speeds). However, it is crucial to acknowledge that the VPN service does introduce a slight reduction in speeds, necessitating the introduction of the specific port feature to address this concern.

So I played on this the other day. It works as a VPN for the device which is def nice. I did notice some lag in some lobbies. Are you geofencing anywhere when using this? Similar to how NoSBMM vpn works. Or are you just straight up using it as a vpn?

@DJAYYI rarely use HVPN since it’s unnecessary for my games. Other VPNs are essentially the same, with varying experiences due to marketing, so it’s clear it’s a scam. I am a top ranker in Fortnite in most games, so I can't play with casuals or be on casual lobbies, so I don't waste my time researching VPNs to kill bot players, but everyone has their opinion. Cod has already been proven to have systems in place where it’s rigged, so most top esports are all cheaters, in humble opinion. You might see some lag if you buffer your whole connection as that'll bottleneck your router, and you don't get QoS for that device when using HVPN.

My advice is to use HVPN if you are able to get lower ping and/ or need to manipulate the location to get lower ping for a server because sometimes the game is based on your location and will lock you or try to force you to play in a specific area. Yes, you can use HVPN with Geofilter, which I do when I do use it.
