Wr3ck3r
I have the R3 setup as a second router to my Xfinity XB8 router/modem. The R3 is set up lan (from 2.5G switch) to Wan (R3). I have two network cards on my pc. Both are active at the same time...one is 10g (pc to switch) and the other is 2.5g (pc to R3). I have 2.5g download 350 upload service from my isp. I understand that the R3 is 1g max...but no matter what I do, I can't get the R3 over 700+ download. Do you think having the R3 as a second router would cause this? I get the same results no matter if I have one card or both network cards active. 700+ is a great speed...but I should be hitting 800/900+ easy. Other than the speed issue, this router is doing everything else perfectly.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 30 Administrators Share Posted August 30 Ideally you'd want all devices connected behind the R3 and nothing connected upstream that could pull bandwidth away from it. The in built tests can be a little off, what do you see on speedtest.net?

Wr3ck3r
I have my setup like this...the R3 is lan to wan and has its own network. My pc is the only thing connected to it.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 30 Administrators Share Posted August 30 Are you saying there is nothing else connected to the 12 port or router/modem for example?

I have other devices connected to the xb8 and other switches. My pc is the only thing connected to the r3. Every device is “behind” or before the r3. The 12 port has 3 other pc’s connected to it. I get the same results whether those are active or not.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 30 Administrators Share Posted August 30 Yeah so ideally it'd be modem/router in modem/bridge mode direct to the R3, then everything else behind to ensure nothing can take bandwidth away from the router, I realize with your setup that wouldn't be practical. What speeds do you have set on the router? Is Congestion Control active?
Wr3ck3r
Cc is active. Speeds set to: 350 up 1G down. I’ve tried everything that I could find from the forums. I figured it could be just related to the way I have the router set up on my network.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 30 Administrators Share Posted August 30 Potentially yes but try disabling the protection options in settings, as a test also try an allow all internet rule and if that doesn't help putting it in the DMZ just briefly to test. If you can't get any higher speeds then it'll definitely be the setup.
Wr3ck3r
Ok. I ran a direct line from the isp router/modem to the R3. Here are the results. Web based, App based & OS speed tests.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 31 Administrators Share Posted August 31 That's much better, more like what we would expect to see, it'll be your setup then Wr3ck3r
