Krush Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 The XR700 has an SFP+ port "that can be managed in WAN"... Not sure if the XR700's internal switch is multigig... so...

I have a Netgear XR 700 it's a great router but it can't do 5g download and upload and you don't update and the Geo-filter feature is outdated because it doesn't get new firmware update even though it has great hardware. No it can't and certainly not at the price point we like to try to stay as close to as possible, it's also not entirely needed, especially for gaming but we are aware people would like more powerful hardware. We're only really starting to see speeds available of 1-2Gbps here in the UK so 5Gbps isn't really standard yet. How is the Geo-Filter outdated exactly? There is a more recent firmware in Early Access.

I'll pass your comments along to the team for when they consider new hardware. We do like to keep the price point around the same though so it really depends on hardware cost.
Alias 1aB Posted yesterday at 12:55 AM Posted yesterday at 12:55 AM Honestly, just having a 2.5 Gb Wan port would be a good enough upgrade for me as my 1 Gb AT&T fiber actually comes in at 1.25 Gbps. Would allow to use all available bandwidth. No actual devices other than my desktop pc have a 2,5 Gb port so the extra bandwidth is negligible. I guess I can say I have been lucky with the R3. I have not had any hardware issues with it like I had with the R2. My R2 eventually went into a power up boot loop and basically became a paperweight at 3 years old. I also had Wi-fi issues with the R2 but nothing like that with the R3. Fortunately for me though, my entire home is hardwired into every room. And anyone who buys a Netduma router is buying it for DumaOS. There is no other reason other than that to buy a Netduma router. So let them focus on getting the software right. That is what we paid them for. Netduma Fraser 1
