Fuzy
Hi! If you use the Linksys as a gateway modem/router and all your devices behind the R3, you can disable the firewall options. On the Linksys Firewall, there is a NAT redirection filter enabled, I'm not sure but this option can be the cause because suddenly the DMZ is not considered a real DMZ... RFGrinch
i will check in again later. Was chatting away to linksys for about 5-6hrs yest lol. Trying lots of things. Wouldnt work. Ive done port forward on r3. Ive turned off a firewall. Its still open nat settings at the moment. Which is best ive had since using sky router. I had to port forward on the sky to get open to stay then. We shall see guys anyway. ive tried turning that filter off before. Received no net on xbox for some reason. Fuzy
Ok! I'm not sure I understand, is the Linksys your main router or are you using your ISP router upstream?
RFGrinch
Yeah. Linksys my main. Have 2 nodes connected to that to extend the wireless throughout house and outside. Got netduma connected to main linksys. Linksys in dmz and static ip for r3. If come off games then go on later or day after. When ever. The open nat then switches back to double strict. I have to reboot everything and get open again. Settings never change if i reboot r3 only. It stays stritc. Of do both i get open.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 6 Administrators Share Posted August 6 That open does seem a bit sus, we can come back to that if needed but ideally it should be off. So your DHCP range starts at .10 so change the R3 IP to be between .2 - .9, if you have any other devices connected to it then reserve IPs for them within this range also. Then see how it is, if the issue happens again then disable DHCP on the Linksys.

So lets try this way. explain everything i will need to change from say default settings. If this doesnt work. I will mail it back to you so you can frame it as it defeated me totally. Been nonstop since i got it. Never been able to fully enjoy it. Spend way more time with this than gaming.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 8 Administrators Share Posted August 8 Based on your previous screenshots what you've done is correct: You've set the R3 a static IP so that shouldn't change rendering the DMZ useless You've entered it in the DMZ That's literally as simple as it should be - check the IP on the R3 does it still end in .39 or has it changed? Only other thing to do to check when you get that double NAT is to put the Xbox in the DMZ on the R3 and see if it then becomes open.

Zero settings change. None at all lol. But somehow later on or day after double nat follows. Didnt use to be like this. When i first got it. I set it up as app instructed. It worked. Then it didnt n hasnt since. With new provider now and new router. Same issues. Dont think these updates like me. would there be a way to make duma my main router. Maybe then link off that the linksys router and its billion nodes lol.
Kingzzy
What's the problem, double nat or strict nat?
RFGrinch
5 minutes ago, Kingzzy said: What's the problem, double nat or strict nat? Both. Had it for months. Get it open. Later on or day after. Reverts back. Reboot linksys and duma. Goes back to open. No settings ever change. We have tinkered with it loads. Nothing seems to keep it open without a reboot on both routers. Kingzzy
Double nat is quite normal you have 2 routers so double nat on the other hand strict nat is not supposed to happen. As @Fuzy mentioned on your screen at the firewall level you have activated filter nat which is not very good for video games in general, so uncheck it. Even if after that it still does not work delete the DMZ and redirect all ports to the R3. PS: You are not in CGNAT?
RFGrinch
It was on as standard. When i was working with the linksys woman. We turned that off. i have no idea on the cgnat. Connect fibre is a new company. Certianly around my area. They offered 1000 down and 1000 up which nobody else were so i jumped at it as my contract had recently ended. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 8 Administrators Share Posted August 8 It could well be that you have this new hybrid CG-NAT I've been hearing about which may explain why it's working sometimes and then not working at other times. Do the CG-NAT test at the bottom of this guide ONLY when you're experiencing the double/strict NAT https://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000076587-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-open-nat

RFGrinch
So to bypass all this crap. Could i have the duma as my main. Or i guess have to set as bridge but lose my nodes which i think im over already. But i do need my sonos. Got plenty of them linked up and before they didnt like the netduma. Not tried again since update.
RFGrinch
Also says on that link to get around cgnat with them i would need to get a static. Which i do actually pay for with them. Funny how they just sell them on main dashboard. Sky and that dont. Anyway i have static and still got these issues.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 8 Administrators Share Posted August 8 Bridge mode wouldn't work either in this scenario, the solutions are: Switch ISP to one that doesn't use it Pay them for a static public IP Potentially a VPN may help
