Restarting R3 router twice because

Recommended Posts

It results in IP address issues on the PS5 even though I’ve set it as a static IP address and put the ps5 into DHCP and DMZ. So I have to restart it again to get it to sync up. What is causing this issue?

What do you mean IP address issues? What actually happens?

Sometimes when restarting the router when it fully loads up I turn on my ps5 and it comes up with IP address error so I have to restart the router again for it to work.

@SamT98I would guess because you don't have a static IP set on the PS5 in the settings (You have to set the IP manually/advanced settings)the router is changing the IP and therefore there a conflict/error.

When I try to set up a static IP address it says can’t connect to the internet my isp or router may be preventing your ps5 from connecting error message comes up when trying it

Don't setup a static IP on either router or console and you shouldn't get the error or set it up in Settings > DHCP on the router and leave it automatic on the console

Yes thats exactly what I thought, I put the ps5 into DHCP so it is already locked to that IP address

Good question above, if you gave it a random static IP rather than the one it had already then you would need to restart the console for it to get the new one

For the PS5, before restarting the R3, Go to Network>Connection Status>Test internet connection. For some reason I am having to do this to get the two talking to each other. The R3 shows my PS5 on, it's connected via ethernet, yet testing the internet connection somehow gets me online and connected. As said before, there is no advantage of a static internet address when setting up the PS5 so if things aren't working, it's best to leave settings as default and slowly try changing the settings one by one.
