geo filter not working

Recommended Posts

hi, i just got the r3 today and the geo filter doesnt seem to do anything, my normal ping without the r3 is 48-50ms but with the r3 its 51-54ms without steady ping on MW3 and my geo filter is set on sydney since that is the best server for me, im just not sure if its actually even doing anything since its not improving anything. plz help. oh and also when i start playing cod on my ps5 it says on the geo filter that the server couldnt be pinged, idk if that has something to do with it.

The Geo-Filter itself can only lower your ping if there are servers around you that you don't normally connect to that have a low ping, What are your SmartBOOST/Congestion Control settings? What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode

my modem is netcom, aussie broadband, i also dont know how to do the DMZ thing on my modem/router as we just upgraded to 1gbps speed/service a couple days ago. also when i game i look at smartboost and the unkown always goes high but my gaming one sits at like 0.83mbps i feel like it should be going higher

For the DMZ, copy the WAN IP from Settings > WAN on the R3 then access your ISP modem/router and enter it into the DMZ function there.

  1. Disable GeoLatency
  2. Disable PingAssist (set it to 0,0)
  3. Enable Strict Mode
  4. Disable Fast Search

Then restart game or wait 10 minutes (in the lobby in the game). If that doesn't work, reboot PC/Console and it should work better then.

ok also i found another problem. on my ps5 when i first turn on my ps5 the lan cable always connects then disconnects, it does that for like 5ish mins and theres nothing i can do about it. like i can plug it into a different port on the router but it still does it, then after 5-7mins its fine its so annoying tho

When you turn the console off is it left in a standby/instant on state or is it fully off?

like i could come back to the ps5 the next day with it fully off and itll still disconnect and re-connect when i turn it on or even as soon as i turn the ps5 off and wait for it to fully turn off then turn back on itll still do it

Okay I think that's related to an issue we are aware of, the firmware today may potentially help with it but if not we'll likely get it sorted for the next one.

nope it made it worse, got no internet connection after updating and reset the router, now i cant even access the web page to change back, im just going to send it back and get a refund. this router is a disgrace.

Did you factory reset the router? When exactly did you do the factory reset - after you had confirmed it upgraded successfully?

Yes after it upgraded, but ima get a refund on it anyway it’s too much of a hassle
