Hi,

I assume this is optimised by default but I was wondering what the max value for MTU is for the R3 and if that would potentially help or solve any throughput issues via WiFi performance? It's one of the few remaining settings I haven't tinkered with yet. Can't find much information regarding this particular units value range for this setting.

MTU will not help with WiFi. As long as it’s at the correct value which you can check it has no impact on WiFi.

what you don’t want is to fragment your traffic. IPv4 and IPv6 work differently in this respect and it can cause packet drop and create issues as resources are used(PMTUD)

Ah okay, I am not too familiar with the MTU so I’ll have to do some googling. I use IPv6 currently so I assume it’s best just to leave this setting in default.

As above, MTU really isn't going to do much for you at all. In terms of WiFi:

  1. Split the bands, give 2.4/5GHz different names and apply - you'll want to connect to 5GHz specifically for speeds
  2. Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that
  3. Experiment with the widths to see what gives better results
  4. Ensure it's in an elevated position - not on a metal surface
  5. Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proximity ~3 feet if possible
  6. Set the antennae to this position _ | | _
