Finalist
Unboxed the r3 was super excited cause I have Starlink and was wanting to see a decrease in high latency spikes and be able to block laggy servers. Well 12 hours in and I can’t get anything to work… The geofilter is useless the allow/deny servers is useless, 9times out of 10 my ping doesn’t get stabilized to say I’m very dissatisfied is a understatement yea cool you have a screen that makes polygons and is suppose to work but it doesn’t lol and yes ive restarted my client, router all that good stuff and I’m still getting put in Africa servers did I just get punk’d?? 😂
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 30, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 30, 2023 Disable GeoLatency Disable PingAssist (set it to 0,0) Enable Strict Mode Disable Fast Search Then restart game or wait 10 minutes (in the lobby in the game). If that doesn't work, reboot PC/Console and it should work then.

JoyKiller
1 hour ago, Finalist said: Netduma offer refunds? I'm on Starlink, Gen2 and I had a couple of minor speedbumps at first as well, ask Fraser to send you firmware 4.0.23, it really smoothed things out for me. Geo Latency kept throwing me out of my zone until I disabled it. Remember, we are on satellite internet and there are just some things inherent to this system that we are not going to have any control over, but this router does help quite a bit. It just might take some finessing to get it as good as it can be for what it is. Some steps that I took: Dishy has zero, and I mean zero obstructions. Once I got the new router, I did a complete factory reset of Starlink, then put it back into bypass mode, so everything is going to the R3 (not sure if you're Gen1 or 2 etc.) I made sure that the cable for the dish as well as my internal network cables are isolated from any power lines etc. as well as not being intertwined with cables from other systems, such as PC's, consoles et al. I also made sure that my Cat6 cables (overkill for starlink) are in good working order, and did not mix-match any shielded/unshielded as well as different Cat ratings in the network. I've also kept my patch cable runs as short as possible between devices, but mostly to prevent any potential coiled cable issues. Once I got the latest firmware installed, I rebooted Starlink, then I factory reset the R3 and went through the settings. I disabled ipv6 in Lan/Wan since it's been very flaky where I'm at. I ran ping optimizer and allowed it to determine the best settings, and I'm not seeing more than a 10ms up/down during gaming until I transfer to a new satellite, I'll see a spike then but it's relatively short-lived. Disabled Geo Latency I personally run an MTU of 1472, and use Cloudflare for my DNS. In MW3, I'm averaging 50-70ms latency in Zombies, and 30-50ms latency in multiplayer. My son plays Apex, The Finals without any real hitches to speak of. This may all be things you already knew or did yourself, but throwing it out there in the hopes that it might help. FrankTheFreak
@Netduma Fraser Hi, not sure if this post is the same issue as mine, but my gaming device shows inactive, when playing COD MW3. It doesn't allow me to choose servers and such. Does the latest unreleased firmware (v4.0.23, I think) help with my issue? I'd like to see, if you don't mind. P.S. I've owned the XR500 and now the R3. I appreciate the hard work and time you give to the development of the OS and this forum. Thank you NetDuma team! FrankTheFreak
17 hours ago, Skept1c said: were you able to figure this out? ive been dealing with the same issue for days now It did start working, but only after a process of trial and error (many restarts and factory resets, with waiting 5+ minutes to fully boot each time). I read multiple forum posts that had different suggestion for various issues, took those suggestions and did the process I noted below for it to start working. To add: In the middle of my tinkering I went back to my XR500, but realized how slow it is now compared to the R3. At this point when reconnecting the R3 router back to my modem, I couldn't get an IP address on the router. So I did the following: Factory Reset R3 Router Unplugged all ethernet cables Unplugged the power from the router Via my phone (via cell network, of course) I restarted my modem using the Spectrum app (attached screenshot for reference) I waited 5-10 minutes to let the modem restart and reconnect to Spectrum service Powered on router, waited 5-10 minutes to fully boot Connected ethernet cables to router Went through setup process of R3 I think this was my final process that had geo-filtering and steady ping working, also being able to approve servers when playing COD MW3 on Xbox Series X. 6 hours ago, Netduma Fraser said: I've sent you .23 which has Geo-Filter improvements in Thank you Fraser! Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 1 Administrators Share Posted January 1 Glad to hear it's working better, if it isn't broken don't fix it as they say, wise to stay on the current firmware. New firmware will start arriving now the team will be back tomorrow so perhaps keep an eye out for one you feel is worth upgrading to
Almana3i
Hello @Netduma Fraser, I have the same issue where my laptop is connected via cable and in-game, but shows as inactive in the app. Any fixes found? Edit: to further clarify, when the game starts my laptop shows as online with "looking for host" for few seconds only, then will become inactive.
