Hi,

I have recently moved to Dubai and have Etisalat coming next week to get my internet up and running (1Gbps) at my new apartment.  I have asked if I can use my own router and they said just to give the technician that comes out on the day the router I want to use and they will install. I’m keen to upgrade from my R2 to an R3 but have a couple of questions:

1. Do all features work within the UAE ok?

2. Is there any specific information I should have ready for the technician on the day related to the router or any information I should get from them?

3. I mainly play warzone (and am very competitive) - is the R3/geo-filtering working well with MW3?

4. Any other misc. info I should know and is it defo worth the upgrade from the R2 to R3 for my main usage of FPS games?

5. Is shipping to the UAE actually still 2-3 days as estimated or will it generally be longer?

Thanks!

Hello!

1. Fully functional in the absence of small corrections.

2. It will depend on the type of connection, if it is made through DHCP or VLAN OR PPPOE, if it is DHCP, just connect the ISP router and R3 through the WAN port and that's it. If you need PPPOE or VLAN, the data will have to be provided by the technician so that you can configure R3.

3. Filtering works perfectly, plus it has a new feature that makes playing more enjoyable and your hitting record feels better.

4. As I said, if you play FPS, the new function will be very good for you, without a doubt it is worth the change.

5.I can't help you or give you information on this, I'm sorry.

Congrats on the move! Essentially as above, there aren't any features that would work better or worse based on location. Orders made from today onwards will be shipped on the second and then from there the shipping estimate will apply. It's usually very reliable but of course due to the holidays/new year there could be delays as DHL catch up.

Thanks for the responses.

I'll need to get it set up on the R2 then I think based on timescales. Assume it would be a pretty seamless transition over to the R3 when I get it? Do you know when the launch discount will run on until?

Yes it will be easy to replace the R2 with the R3, connect it in the same way, run through the R3 wizard and you'll be good to go. I don't, sorry, I think for the R2 it ran for about 2-3 months but doesn't mean the same will apply here

So I have made the purchase and got the R3 now. Had been using Etisalat’s own router for the past 5 months.

I’m having trouble getting the internet set up. I have the PPPoE username and password form Etisalat and also the VLAN ID. However when I try and update the VLAN ID in the adanced settings it doesn’t allow me to save and just resets to 0 when I close and reopen the tab. Any suggestions?

Edit: Managed to update firmware to latest and have managed to connect now!

Glad to hear you were able to get connected in the end, let us know if you have any questions/issues and we'll be happy to help!

Thanks Fraser.

Only minor issue is that since changing to the R3 from the Etisalat router is my NAT has gone from Open to Moderate - search times are a lot higher now and getting into unpopulated lobbies. What methods can I go through to open my NAT? Playing on PC.

Copy the WAN IP from the R3 WAN Settings page then enter that in the Eti DMZ and that should allow you to get an Open NAT.

Can you provide a screenshot of your Geo-Filter page please? Search times will be increased as you are restricting servers now so it depends how strict your being.

Hey - apologies - where do I paste the WAN IP to? I don't have the Etisalat router plugged in and not sure how I would access the modem?

I'm geo-filterng just to the Saudi server as its the only good one for me in Dubai. I'm aware that it will increase queue times which I'm fine about. Just want to get my NAT open.

Just to clarify then, you're not using the Eti router and instead using a pure (no WiFi) modem with the R3 handling PPPoE and VLAN is that correct? If so then for NAT you'll need to port forward for the game on the R3 itself.
