Pro Innocence
Hi Guys, A few issues I have noticed with the R3. - Regarding UPnP, I have multiple consoles and they were all reading a moderate NAT, this was after port forwarding. I noticed UPnP would only have one port line but after a couple of days, all consoles would read an open NAT and when I checked the UPnP tab there were multiple port lines. It seems like UPnP isn't triggering straight away and my guess is after multiple console reboots it finally triggers UPnP, does this sound plausible? - The second issue I noticed is my steady ping will take a life time to stabilise and the majority of times it won't actually stabilise or ping the server and if it does, there is no graph to show the reading throughout the game. This isn't a massive issue because the game still feels great and the in game ping is very stable so I am guessing it is working under the hood. But I really do like seeing this in action so would really like that to work. Is this a known issue? I have read on some other posts, people have a similar issue but they seem to have that for one certain server, mine is every single one. - Lastly, after a reboot yesterday, my device on the Geo filter dissapeared and after re adding my PS5 it says the PS5 is active on the top left but on the right hand side there is no device at all now. I have tried to delete and re add and reboot the R3 but still nothing appears on the right hand side. There are still servers showing on the map though and everything is being filtered outside my circle so it does appear to be working. So overall the R3 is still working, is useable and doing a great job at it but the above problems are bugging me simply because I love seeing the R3 do its thing. It isn't the end of the world for me right now as it is doing what I need and intend it to do, I just wondered if anyone is either experiencing the same issues and has a fix? Thank you š. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 24, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 24, 2023 Hey Pro, to answer your questions: That is definitely plausible, thank you for highlighting that issue, I will pass that onto the team. If you get server cannot ping that is usually for a reason and so is expected, we're just unable to ping that server. Waiting for host less so. I have sent you a firmware in a PM that has some Geo-Filter improvements, let us know if that helps at all! I've seen this but not sure how to reproduce, after the reboot was the PS detected by a different name or anything like that?Ā
Pro Innocence
Thanks mate, I will update now. In regards to my third question, I moved my PS5 from one room to another so temporarily switched it to WiFi and since then nothing as added back to the geo filter. Standby and I'll update, do a factory reset and see if it sorts it out.
Pro Innocence
Hi mate, Done the above, my device is now showing up in the Geo filter which is good. However I only ever get 'Waiting for host' now. I have played a few games and they have been on a few different servers and it never passes the 'Waiting for host'. I have re synced cloud too. What I will say though, it clearly is doing its job as the in game ping never fluctuates more than 3 ping MAX and the game feel absolutely amazing. Again, it is more me wanting to see it in action because I am a nerd š¤£. The NAT issue is still there and now I have factory reset, they are stuck on moderate again and the UPnP page is only showing 1 port line. Again I am not too fussed at this stage as eventually after a few console reboots I am sure they will trigger the UPnP lile before and give me open NAT's as they did previously. I am also aware you guys know UPnP may be a little temperamental at this stage. Just let others know if they have issues with it at this stage, after a few console reboots it should work and trigger an open NAT. until a future firmware that seems to be a temp fix for now. Apart from the pinging of the hosts and being able to watch the steady ping in action it is brilliant mate. I am very very happy with my new toy āŗļø . Merry Christmas mate. I appreciate your help today.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 24, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 24, 2023 When you switched the PS over to WiFi did it appear on the Device Manager as a new device or the same device? What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how is that setup? Definitely good to know about UPnP. Glad to hear you're enjoying it overall, no worries at all, Merry Christmas to you too!
Pro Innocence
Yes mate appeared as a new device. I then went into the network settings of the PS and manually changed the IP to the one it was when it was wired. My thought process was that the ports would have automally opened as they were when it was wired because the ports were assigned to that specific IP address. Does that make sense? Maybe that had something to do with it. As for modem, I am unfortunately with virgin media and the modem is the HUB 4 / TG3492LG-VMB. It is currently in modem mode. Ah so you did that before checking the Geo? Possibly, if it was appearing as a different device and then you made it like the wired device while it was still connected to WiFi that could cause a conflict. If you switch the V Hub to router mode and use the DMZ instead do servers ping more often?

It has been perfectly fine since! I done as you asked, put the modem into router mode and the R3 DMZ and I have been pinging servers every game with the ping stabilising and the graph working throughout the game. Is that a known bug then? I am happy to continue with it in router mode for now as I have turned off the WiFi anyway. Thanks mate, merry Christmas, have a great day! Not specifically with modem mode no, I've always just found the modem mode to be a bit unstable at time and sounds like that was what you were experiencing too. Glad it's all working now.
