SmartQos not work

Hi Fraser, I wanted to give you some feedback on the geofilter with Overwatch 2, so far the best version with it was the one the router came with, the .19, the .20 didn't work at all and the .23 always only sees the servers in America and it only connects there, I tried both in PlayStation and computer mode and nothing changes, however with the .19 it actually filtered out the servers in Europe.

Strange thing, if I  deactivate geolatency and therefore it can no longer connect in America it will not connect to any server in Europe and will never find a match.

Whenever I start up my PS5, I check the network speed via the speed test in the PS5 settings. I'm usually showing 550-570 Mbps but ever since I got the R3, it shows me at below 100 until I restart my internet. I think it might be the SmartBOOST because it shows my PS5 as offline (it's the only thing I have a priority for)  until I'm actively searching for a game to join, even then it sometimes looks like it times out and I have to refresh the page to show it working. The same thing goes with the geofilter actually.

How do I completely disable QOS on the R3? Can't seem to find it. Older models I could click a box under one of the settings and would work but I'm not seeing anything like that.

SmartBoost => Settings => Enable or Disable

Hi Fraser, I wanted to give you some feedback regarding the geofilter and other things, I tested some games:

+PC in console mode playstation firmware .023

-Fallout76: is seen in the geofilter (Steady Ping works sometimes yes and sometimes not) that connects to a server but is not seen as gaming priority in smartqos, this is detected as xbox cloud gaming even if I don't play it in the cloud.

-Diablo4, it is not seen either in the geofilter or in smartqos as a gaming priority on both PC and Xbox, this would be nice if it could be added and fixed, it always connects to a very distant server with 150+ ms of ping.

-Modern Warfare 3: no problem on Xbox, everything works even Steady Ping, there are lots of servers, here you can also deactivate geolatency but you can always find matches anyway.

-Overwatch2: on PC with the .19 firmware it worked well, it found games both within the geofilter radius and outside with geolatency enabled, with the current .23 it only finds games from Europe to America, if you deactivate geolatency it will not find anything , Steady Ping works in both versions.

A limitation that I found is that you can only add 4 devices in the geofilter, for consoles it is also fine as it is not possible to select the game but for the PC you can put it either in console mode to make it work or in PC and with this Lastly you must also select the game so 4 possible entries are too few.

Other problems I encountered:
-these data are absolutely not true, I haven't done any of that so far but they are reported, I found myself at the end of the day even with 20 hours of play

image.thumb.png.39f66914a24960c27c74cc0d92d1fd21.png

- in smartqos even without doing anything the things that are in priority are detected, this means that the cc is always active, it is resolved only after a restart

image.thumb.png.3cbad439327ac9cdf99a8ac2c4d640a7.png

-device manager, most devices are not recognized

-adblocker, if you stay on this page for a while the dashboard freezes and you have to reload the page

-ping optimizer, almost never works

-smartQos, there are problems with Twitch that I have already explained

-wifi, my wife's phone, an iPhone 11, often disconnects

Some things I wish were there and that I think are useful:

-it often happens that you would like to know what an unknown device is, to do this for example you can perform a task such as a video on that device, go to network activity and see which one is running that thing but then from there it is not possible to rename that device device, an option to name the device from there would be useful

- being able to turn off all the lights, at night they make a very strong and annoying light

-be able to choose geolatency based on the device

One thing I really like is the complete rewriting of the interface, switching from jquery to React, then rewriting the entire front end from scratch with a new framework has improved this aspect a lot, the interface blocks are almost equal to 0.

yes, the speeds are the same, I think it's a problem of QoS with twitch, I've done all the possible tests but nothing to do, when you saturate the bandwidth with a download to twitch it's not given the necessary bandwidth, same thing that happens in the post I wrote with the netduma r2 with the smartQos beta,   I also made a video.

This speed test is indicative that your cc isn't working not the other way around.

You have set your speed at 28 and 5 and given 90% yet speed test is pulling 28.47 and 5.30 where as you should be getting around 23/25mb and 4mb no?

Hello I have the same issue with ps5 speed tests and there seems to be a throughput issue.

Disable ipv6 on wan and lan there are 2 biddable one then the other restart and make sure they are both off. Disable smartqos and restart again. Send a message to a friend speedtest.net this will enable you to click the link on ps5 and test to servers

this is the speed with the cc active and the values set to 100%, but they are variable, sometimes 27, other 28, sometimes 26 tests always done in the same conditions, if I deactivate qos I also recover another MB in download even if not always manages to reach the same speed on the same server and with the network downloaded, if I turn off the qos I always get the maximum speed, but this is not the sure problem, the parameters are correct, from the frtizbox in dsl this is the carrier negotiated with the power station (8b connection, 936m long)

Oh okay from my testing when I set my speed I instantly lose about 20mb even from speeds set so that's why I thought you shouldn't be getting 28mb with qos active as it instantly drops your speed lower than what is put on.

For example I have 940mb if I set the speed to 940 and leave markers at 100 I get like 860 without even applying cc

Sorry for the late reply, I know for Overwatch it's one of the games that doesn't filter very well and so if you want to filter you'll have to use Geo-Latency with it. Steady Ping won't necessarily work with all games, we know it does work for CoD and if we can widen it's compatibility we will definitely do so. Diablo 4 has been requested so we'll probably get that added.

As for everything else such as Twitch, there are a few issues that could be contributing to that which should be fixed quite soon so that should improve.

It's a shame that you have to globally activate and deactivate geolatency every time. More than anything, if a person plays a game that needs geolatency but another person doesn't need it, you have to forcibly keep it active.

It would be nice to have Steady Ping that works with all games, on Overwatch it always works and you can see the difference in game, I have a little more ping but nothing changes but I don't have any spikes due to lag, everything is more fluid.

For twitch let me know if I can help in any other way and if the fix comes with the next update, I can do all the tests and give you feedback.

I also wanted to ask you, in the post where we post data taken from wireshark for games, can we also post data captured from applications? I'll give you an example, when my Xbox downloads when it's turned off it isn't recognized in SmatBoost and gives unknown data in the graph. If I want I can also help map the data of these or other applications/clients.

Hi @Netduma Fraser I wanted to report a problem that I had already mentioned if you read above but I believe in a post where I report a few things but you didn't reply to me, currently this LGwebOSTV device is physically disconnected from the mains, therefore it has no power supply, and is seen as connected by smartQos with Netflix, this means always having a priority in the queue even if it is not doing anything or rather in this case it does not exist at all as the TV is physically disconnected from the power.

In the image you can also see Twitch from the PC I'm writing from but it's not open anywhere.

If you run a speed test this corresponds to the speeds with active cc as that traffic that does not exist activates congestion control, so the line is always with active cc even when it shouldn't be as there is no need for it

I see what you mean, we are thinking about the potential for multiple Geo-Filters so you could have individual settings for different devices but that would be very far off.

If I remember rightly it's not necessarily a case of us making that happen but rather due to limitations on ping frequency on games I believe, something along those lines but we'll do what we can.

Will do!

Yes you could absolutely do that and it would be very helpful thank you!

That's very interesting thank you, I will pass that onto the team to take a look at.

Ok Fraser, then I will also send other acquisitions with wireshark for applications such as clients or things in common use, I'm happy to be able to help.

As for smartBoost I think it's a bug and I don't think it's intentional because as you can see in this way the cc is always active.

I will then update this post after the various firmware updates to provide you with my feedback on these topics that I have covered! (twitch, geo filter etc.)

Thank you and good evening!
