I updated my firmware to the beta yesterday and then resynced the cloud and my issue still persist. I am currently back to the public build on netgears website

We've made a change so resync again and hopefully it'll work now

If you had bothered to read my first post, you’d know I already posted the issues. The issues I had weren’t addressed or fixed as others were having the same problems. They are still ongoing cloud issues. I initially installed the beta, because i had issues with the public build & thought the beta build might be better, only to do a full circle & go back to the public build which somehow fixed itself. Stop telling people to get over themselves when you have no idea what I had to do or what others are going through.

also, don’t bother replying if you’re not here to help or help others or give feedback that might be useful.

We *think* we know what the problem may be, we'll be pushing a cloud over the next few days that should hopefully resolve it.

How do I implement the fix over the cloud on the router?

QOS continues to have problems, it leaves me without internet and I have to disable DPI. in short, QOS is broken since the big cloud update, I went back to the official version and it has no problems

I thought you said above that was fixed? What's the issue now exactly?

I don't know.
because games, applications, etc. are detected. Every so often it leaves me without internet, I have to disable QOS and DPI to have internet again.  That's how I know it's a cloud thing. I see that the game Street Fighter VI detects me a lot on all devices even if no one is playing. Error_DNS appears on pages when error occurs

Disabling those features just restarts things, may not be the cause. If you could provide the logs when it happens please

Pretty certain it's the DHCP issue from the logs - In LAN Settings, set the DHCP range to start at .50, then assign reserved IP addresses to devices between .2 & .49 so they're out of the DHCP range, apply, reboot from the interface, wait 4 minutes and see if that stops the disconnects.

Is there a way to hard limit a device on my network in the new firmware? Like turning off the sharing of excess bandwidth? I want to hard limit a device to under 1mb/s and I can't seem to do it on XR500. Wondering if it's worth upgrading to the new firmware for hopefully this feature. Thank you!

No there isn't a way to do that specifically, you'd either have to disable share excess and have every device hard limited to the bandwidth left over or specifically give out bandwidths to each device as a hard limit out of your total available bandwidth

Will a version be released soon to fix the bug where IPv6 doesn't work with QOS?

As you know we don't provide any ETAs, I couldn't say at the moment if that would be included, ideally yes

HI! I'm an XR500 owner who has been been watching this topic for a while now and has gone through 3-4 firmware updates throughout the years. I have skipped the latest official update because it's just security fixes that are likely already included in the latest beta rc14.

Fraser, you've been extremely professional and knowledgeable. I know I can post a question and get a quick and informative response. But, in all honesty, you're the only good part about owning a Netgear router.

This DHCP issue has existed since I first purchased this router, and every firmware update makes it worse. My internet went from dropping out every roughly 2 weeks, to every 1-2 days, requiring intervention from me. Not a problem when it's at 3am when nobody is awake,  it's just an inconvenience. However, it becomes a nightmare at 7pm when everyone is home using their devices and a baby starts crying because the only 10mins TV time they get all day is taken away.

I'm sure if you're a household with only a small handful of devices or no small children, it's possible that you'll never experience a problem or noticed one. But, I've been dealing with it fairly constantly for years.

So, for the last time, I've done a factory reset, 'upgraded' the firmware, and increase the DHCP range to begin at 100. The DHCP is still renewing leases every 1-2mins after six hours, which is an improvement over every 1-2 seconds and the DPI class still crashes and recovers every minute or two. So, it appears like something's still quite broken and the crashes will be inevitable.

I'll give it a week. Then I'm going to replace this XR500, contact Elon Musk, and have this cursed device fired into the sun where it cannot harm anyone else :) .
