Bucks9052
My router has been consistently lagging and disconnecting. Then today my router has fully wiped itself to factory settings and wouldn’t let me log in without factory resetting. My speeds are slower then what they used to be. I am getting kicked from online games due to the router deciding to not connect to anything for a 1-2 minutes at random intervals. Anyone got a fix? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 13, 2022 Administrators Share Posted September 13, 2022 Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear you're having this issue, have any settings been changed or any new devices being added prior to the issues occurring? How did you figure out it did a factory reset without being able to confirm by accessing - did the WiFi SSID revert to the default? What is the model of the modem/router you're using that the XR is connected to? In LAN Setting, set the DHCP range to start at .50, then assign reserved IP addresses to devices between .2 & .49 so they're out of the DHCP range, apply, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes and see if that stops the disconnects. Bucks9052
1.No 2.The router SSID would reset so I would be unable to access it so I assumed it was a factory reset 3.Model number is 2151014848-O5L5 it’s a default modem provided by spectrum. About the fix you provided I have enacted it and will tell you if it fixes it! Newfie and Netduma Liam 1
Bucks9052
So the disconnecting has stopped so far but now my phone is unable to connect to the 2.4 Ghz band. Do you know how to fix?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 18, 2022 Administrators Share Posted September 18, 2022 Glad to hear it! What happens exactly when you try to connect?
Bucks9052
Well I spoke too soon I was just playing Rainbow Six siege and got disconnected again. And for my phone it says I’m connected but nothing works on 2.4 it won’t do anything online.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 18, 2022 Administrators Share Posted September 18, 2022 Was it the only device to disconnect or did others disconnect as well? Give the phone a reserved IP in LAN Settings, can it use the internet properly then?
Bucks9052
So now that I’ve been using this settings for a bit. I still do disconnect in all devices but I’m not disconnecting as much. However on my Xbox if I use 5 GHZ my connection disconnects quite a bit. And I know it’s not the console because I used 5 GHz on my Xbox at a friends house just fine. My phone doesn’t work on 2.4 ghz at all. I just get a no internet connection and have to use 5 GHz. Any ideas for a fix?
Newfie
Couple of questions. do you any type of special characters in your WiFi password and have you tried changing it? You could set up a guest WiFi to test too, give it a name like Testme and a password different to your main one. what’s your security setting ie.WPA? what’s the range of the ps5 to the router? Whats the settings under both 2.4 and 5Ghz on the bandwidth side? have you performed a manual install of the firmware followed by a reset. When you set up don’t use a saved config profile. Do you notice when it disconnects that it’s just the device ie PS5 or does it drop the 5GHz channel?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 1, 2022 Administrators Share Posted October 1, 2022 Great questions above, let us know! 5GHz has less penetration power than 2.4GHz so if in your home there are quite a low of walls between the console and the router then that could happen
