BENORMOUS
When I had my new fibre activated a month or so a go the difference was literally night and day for me,was amazing hit detection with smooth game play I was over the moon but this has unfortunately gone tits up and ill explain why I spoke to sky because I noticed strange snr levels on my sky router stats, ive spoken with an advisor on live chat and was told my upstream is fastpath interleaving turned off but on my Downstream it's apperently on with no fastpath, sky tell me there's nothing they can do as they have no control over the line or DLM and my DLM is on a standard profile and not speedy, this makes my connection horrible Can any of you think of anything I could say or do for sky to maybe get a hold of openreach and get the DLM reset on my line?is there any reason why it's happened to my line?if anyone has any info on this to make it a little clearer to me It would be appreciated
Zennon
Bt hold the cards on Interleaving etc so sky can not change it there I am afraid. I do not know if you have seen me talking to other members about G.inp? Bt have rolled it out to all cabinets It is a new type of interleaving but it is not permanent it resend's packets on the fly if there is an error meaning you have fast path with error correction. If your router does not have the supporting G.inp firmware then you will be placed on quite a deep interleaving profile. Ring sky and ask if they can upgrade the firmware to support G.inp. BENORMOUS
So can the sr102 sky hub be upgraded to support G.inp?ive never felt my connection be so horrible mate im so delayed it's unreal
Zennon
Yes apparently it does support G.inp, I would ask sky if your version of firmware is the right one. You might need to speak to someone that knows their arse from their elbow , which might be a task.

RADDY1993
I have seen on Sky Forum that it will be 3-5 years until Sky Routers are fully ready to accept this feature. G.INP rollout is taking place now and will be completed over the next several months. G.Fast trials are going to be run in the summer of this year, but it's unlikely we'll see any rollout of this technology nationwide for 3-5 years, the chips are not even in mass production yet. Zennon
I have an Hauwei modem that is not exactly new its been out a few years now and with a FW update it now accepts G.inp. Here are sky users happy with G.inp http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-broadband-fibre-help/57901-success-omg.html Ive been doing some more reading and it seems not all cabs have been rolled out yet users still to this day just being put on to the system. Buds
G-INP has been disabled by BT on upstream I believe. Too many issues with the roll out. Still on the downstream which would explain your problems if modem firmware is not compatible. To be honest sky are too restrictive with their MER, personally I'd migrate away but appreciate that's a bit extreme for some!

Raddy, that sky post is talking about two different features. G-INP rollout is well underway. G-Fast is a very different thing and that is a few years away probably. Apologies if you knew this already.

They have dsiabled it on the upstream because ECI cabs can not support this neither can ECI modems. The good people at BT open reach gave people ECI modems on Hauwei cabs , so now i have to suffer because of their stupidity as they can not have this feature turned on in Hauwei cabs because of the modem mess up ,even though i have the correct modem. Not saying Openreach always gave the right modems but I'd suggest likes of Kelly's etc would have been main culprits from what I have read. Zennon
But they must have know half the country could not do the upstream because they contracted ECI to make cabs and modems , or more than likley one hand not talking to the other yet again. Buds
Lack of future planning I'd guess. Roll out FTTC asap and then they find out certain future protocols don't play nice with some of the hardware! I'd not be entirely confident G-Fast will play nice on both setups either

Buds
If G-Fast doesn't work on half the hardware (and I'd guess ECI of I was a betting man) then that's a real problem for BT. Without g-fast half the country can't kick on to ultra fast connections and BT will be left trying to expand a very expensive FTTP footprint or replace DSLAMs. Ouch either way! Zennon
A while ago people would all praise the ECI cab and modems over Hauwei, now how the tables have turned.
