In game ping vs. Duma OS ping

Hi all,

I recently purchased R2. I am on Plasytation 5 and located in Turkey. When I check in game ping from options (pressing start-options-account) I see 70-80 ms ping. When I check my ping from Duma OS, I see 45 ms. In game ping and Duma OS ping never matches. Duma OS ping always lower than in game ping values. What is the actual ping I am playing? Is in game ping bar is inaccurate?

In game ping is calculated from the UDP traffic stream and therefore it includes processing time, while DumaOS attempts to ping the server. Most of the times the server does not respond to ping echo requests so you get the ping from the nearest hop making it a little lower. Also DumaOS ping is coming from the router while it discards any latency rise you have on your own network, say if you are using wifi etc.

 

Best is to look at in game ping. However it's all relative. If you look at ping heatmap etc the lowest ping server will also be the lowest ping server in the game most times.
