Quest 2 SLR slow connection

Ok I tried it before it gave the message I’ve reached my limit.

for clarity I reset the R2 and used the oculus browser and the videos I tried had no issues. I then tried it with QoS on and still no issue.

I went to try it after enabling adblocker but unfortunately I had hit my limit of videos.

When you last updated the R2 did you factory reset?

Hello, so I did a factory reset from UI. Left the bandwidth in default 1000 up down.

Set new SSID unmirrored and set channel to 44 in 5ghz turned off both ipv6 and connected to Quest 2. Played a SLR video and it’s struggling, network monitor showing 5-9 Mbps. Did a speedtest.net and it was around 23 Mbps.

Changed 5ghz channel to auto, set bandwidth to 540 up and 35 down (my max from superhub in speedtest.net is 550/40). Went back to Quest and wifi auto disconnected and reconnected as I had changed the channel. SLR video was working fine , network monitor showed above 90 Mbps. Speedtest.net result was back to normal above 200 Mbps.

Restarted Quest and SLR still working fine.

Restarted Quest again and checked in SLR again, its back to the same problem again. Network monitor same 5-10 MBps. Speedtest.net same above 200 Mbps.

Checked Ad block and its off by default. Uncheck Adblock, tracking and malware just incase. Turned off quest for a minute and back on. Back to square one again with 5-10Mbps. Got tired of it and turned off quest then set my usual SSID to let other devices to connect.

Thank you for reading.

Thanks for the info.

Does YouTube and other VR videos from the likes of YouTube work fine when you have the issue with this website?

Have you cleared the cache on the browser just in case.

what’s the free memory like on Quest?

Hows the super hub set up ie.modem mode. I’m not sure if DMZ is wise on the Quest 2 from the R2 as I don’t know it’s security that well.

Strange question incoming but have you joined it’s membership or have you found a workaround?

Hi, yes every other apps and websites work fine on quest. I haven’t cleared cache on browser but I have done a factory reset of quest a few times in past months as this problem started around nov last year. I have 30 something gb left on quest storage

My hub is in modem mode, I did try putting quest on DMZ in R2 before but didn’t change anything. I have a subscription with them but wish there was a work around 😂

The WiFi may not be as strong as your gateway but try these and see if they help:

  • Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that
  • Experiment with the widths
  • Ensure it's in an elevated position - not on a metal surface
  • Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proxity ~3 feet if possible
  • Set the antennae to this position _ | | _

Tried guest network and no changes. My router is right next to me so I don't think its a signal issues, besides other VR websites works just fine on R2 and Superhub 4.

You can still get interference even if you're close by, it's not necessarily the website but it is a lot of bandwidth being used and if there are any spikes, slowdowns etc you will feel it in that scenario, do try the above steps and i think that will make a difference.

I downgraded to last firmware, felt the slow UI :D and its been working fine for now so far. I have restarted quest and tried twice and still worked fine. Turned off the quest for a hour or so and tried again and its all good now. I'll stick with this firmware for now.

Glad to hear it’s sorted.

I’m thinking perhaps a little glitch was there after updating. You could try updating again and see what happens.

Hello, I upgraded R2 to latest firmware and loved the fast UI but before upgrading I did check with quest and SLR was working awesome. So yes after upgrading and factory reset, went to quest 2 and yep its the same problem. Network monitor shows 5-10 Mbps when in SLR videos and its unplayable but doing speedtest.net goes good 200+ Mbps.

Downgraded again and its been working fine. I’ll stick with this now. Thank you.

That’s interesting and thanks for updating the thread. Touch wood when the next firmware appears this solves your issue.
