I think it's probably best to try and get a replacement from the company you got it from if possible, otherwise making a ticket with Netgear for an RMA http://support.netgear.com/

I had an ISP technician come around (he didn't know anything about the nighthawk router though). The ISP thinks the errors/lack of geofiltering is due to my speeds and modem capacity. I'm getting 350mb download and got an Arris DG2470A 3.0 modem. They want me to upgrade speed so they can switch the modem and they think this will work. What do you think?

I think it is very unlikely to make a difference to be honest, it's a DumaOS error and therefore unlikely related to an external factor. If the cost isn't too different you could always try it but I wouldn't expect it to work

cool - thanks for the guidance. I bought a new unit via amazon to identify if the ISP nighthawk router is faulty. Will keep you posted.

UPDATE - my new XR1000 arrived same day delivery. I set it up and it is working perfectly. I can see gaming server info and change geofilter settings without error messages. It must have been a dodgy unit.
