Wayne
Can someone please explain further into Static IP addresses? Is this similar to a VPN?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 27, 2021 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2021 No, a static IP address is simply an IP address that doesn't change. For example, the router will assign your console an IP address e.g. 192.168.77.5 a reboot could then mean the IP is changed to .10. If you were to set a static/reserved IP address then it wouldn't change at all. It doesn't have any impact on the connection.

I live in NY and would like a IP address in idk say EU, is that possible? without a vpn.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 27, 2021 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2021 You can purchase a static public IP from your ISP in most cases yes but it will not be in a different location.

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 27, 2021 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2021 It's similar to a VPN but does not cover the whole device, usually a tab in your browser. Not possible to run one through the router.
