Hietski
Hi, I've just upgraded my Wifi and now have 390mbps download. Unfortunately, if I connect to my XR300 on Wifi then I get <100mbps, even if I'm right next to the router (my Ethernet connection gives me the full 390mbps). If I connect to the Wifi on my standard Virgin router then then Wifi connection speed goes right back up to 350 mbps+, so this has to be something to do with my Netgear router. I've tried disabling QoS but this doesn't help. What troubleshooting steps should I take next?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 27, 2021 Administrators Share Posted March 27, 2021 Hey, welcome to the forum! Is this connect to the 5GHz that you get these speeds?
Hietski
Yep, this is on the 5Ghz network. Its even slower on the 2.4ghz.
Newfie
Did the upgrade include a new Virgin hub? How is the Virgin hub setup to handle the 300 If it were me I would perform a factory reset and setup as new after an upgrade from an isp. It’s nice to start fresh and sometimes the best way to go. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 28, 2021 Administrators Share Posted March 28, 2021 Are ALL devices connected to the XR or do you still have devices connected to the hub? If so they can pull bandwidth away from the XR.
Hietski
I've got a new Virgin Hub 3. I've put it into modem mode so all devices are connected through the XR. I've already done a factory reset by holding down the reset button, but it didn't help.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 28, 2021 Administrators Share Posted March 28, 2021 Take the V hub out of modem mode, in my experience it is a bit flaky. Instead give the XR a static/reserved IP address and add that IP to the DMZ. Then try a speed test through the XR.
