Homamk
Hey everyone! New Netduma user here! i just got ahold of my first Netduma router. I have the R2 version and absolutely love it! i have so many questions that i was able to answer using search or your knowledge center, however there were some i am still not able to find information on and hoping this forum can help me! i am going to post all my questions here and i apologize ahead of time if its too much! i will be using my Netduma router to better my Call of duty warzone experience. I have already changed my PC to "PlayStation" console because i read that works better with geo-filter. just for reference, i am currently in PA, US. here are my questions: 1. when i load up a game, i can see all the blocked servers that are outside my radius. i always see a white server near me with a white circle around it. is that just saying its an allowed server and not necessarily the one i will be connecting to? it is shown in attached picture with RED arrow. 2. i am seeing servers get blocked (because they are outside my radius) which is good, but i am seeing some that dont show up on the warzone ping heat map like the one in the picture with a GREEN arrow. does that mean its a call of duty server but not necessarily a warzone server? 3. i was testing connecting to oversee servers (Canada and Europe) . i was able to connect with pings in 40 for Canada and 90-100 range for Europe (which is reasonable compared to how far they are) but it took forever to find a game. sometimes 10 minutes and above with times it couldn't find one at all. is that normal due to how far it is? or am i doing something wrong? i always make sure my Geo-filter is over a server. 4. i noticed that if my Geo-filter is over multiple servers (in hopes to find matches quicker) the game seems to connect to one when the game boots up (i can see a white server pop up in my radius) and it seems to stick to that server the entire time even if it cant find any games.. it will not try any other server. is that normal? 5. i have two VPN services that i am testing out (VPN UNLIMITED and NORDVPN). Does making your IP in the same location (in my case, outside the US and within the radius that i am trying to connect to) does it make it easier to find games? or is it not really useful to have a VPN for match finding? if it doesnt make a difference, i would rather not use one because it does add some latency and reduce my download/upload speeds. 6. i tried to use the "connection benchmarking" while having the VPN on to see which VPN is "faster" in terms of "ping" and "download / upload" speed. However, i always get the same results with the "connection benchmarking" feature. does that not work with VPN's? i have better luck comparing speeds using a website like speedtest.net to see the difference in speeds. 7. attached are two config files, one from VPN UNLIMTED and one from NORD VPN. if i wanted to use the Hybrid VPN feature, do i copy everything in that file into the config area? i got both to work but i want to make sure i am doing it right. the one thing i did notice is if i active VPN using the application from the VPN service and i goto speedtest.net my speeds are MUCH higher (download roughly 300MB/S) vs using hybridVPN in the router (40 MB/S). i apologize again for all the questions. i am just excited to try out all these features of the router that i want to learn more and more... i am sure i will have more questions but if you can answer some of these for me i will GREATLY appreciate it and i am sure others will find it helpful in the future. Thanks again! 62B1F36B-8C1D-4AF2-8653-1107B96591E5_ch_openvpn.ovpn ca1072.nordvpn.com.udp1194.ovpn
Darren Munnich
Sorry to burst the bubble but using Netduma/VPN is not going to fix your SBMM issue man.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 3, 2021 Administrators Share Posted March 3, 2021 Hey, welcome to the forum! To answer your questions: It is a server that is whitelisted by us (always allowed) as it is an authentication server - required for online play - it does not affect your game ping/experience at all. It just means we need to update Ping Heatmap - this will happen every so often, we have to update it quite regularly, I've let the team know to do this so thanks for the report! The higher the ping of the server that you're trying to get the longer it can take to get a game really. For the best experience we always suggest going for the lowest pings. Not really seen it do that before but could be an Auth server as above It might make it easier to find a game but it would be more laggy No it doesn't work with Connection Benchmark - CB tests from the router itself and you cannot put the entire router behind the VPN currently Yes you paste the whole contents in, if you're connected then you're doing it right. Yes speeds are limited while using OpenVPN through the router. Don't worry about asking questions, happy to help!
