The Total Legend
Hi, I was sent here from Netgear support chat. I just bought a Netgear Nighthawk XR1000. Straight out of the box I set it up; the Nighthawk app made me update the firmware (XR1000 1.0.0.50_1.0.36) before completing. This is DumaOS version 3.0.185. Once finished, I tried to access the routerlogin.net URL and have been experiencing nothing but issues with the app displaying pop-up error modals, and filling up the console.log with app errors and CORS errors. Sometimes the dashboard will display, sometimes it will just show only the background image with a spinner that never ends. Some of the pages will display, and some will not. It's totally random. The router works, I get internet access and local network access, but I cannot configure anything with this interface since it's broken. The chat support asked me if I did a factory reset, I told him I did not since it should have been at its initial state since it was brand new, I just followed the instructions on the app to get it initially setup and that was it. I didn't want to factory reset anything until I knew what was going on or if there were any other solutions. I tried web browsers: Brave, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera. On Mac and PC. Including clearing caches, hard reload. Anyone know any fixes for this? Thanks.
Newfie
Did you reset the router as suggested by support. Its the first step in solving the issue as it clears out low level code that can create issues. I would reset and then set up as new and test again. The Total Legend
I ended up doing the factory reset but it changed nothing. Still unable to use it, with the same errors as posted in the images above.

Looking at the website for the router the latest firmware for it is 1.0.0.52 not sure where you got 3.0.185 from unless thats the duma build number you are quoting, rather than the actual firmware number? Try uploading the firmware from this link and doing a factory reset after its fully uploaded and rebooted after doing a reset via the pinhole in the back, if it still does not work contact the seller and return it for a new one as you only just bought it.. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/xr1000.aspx#Firmware Version 1.0.0.
MotFPS
I had the same exact issues with mine when I set it up out of the box. It ended up being cache from chrome and my old router. Open an incognito window and try http://192.168.1.1. Routerlogin.net and routerlogin.com just loop you back to the 192.168.x.x IP. If it works in incognito mode then you know it's your cache and settings that you need to clear on chrome for the 192.168.x.x "domain"
Guest Killhippie
Netgear routers thankfully work with all modern browsers, so you don't need to install a browser like Chrome that slurps all your data if you have not got it installed already and you shouldn't need to use incognito mode either. You could try clearing your cache but really that should no be necessary, but Duma OS does hold some settings in cache unlike most other routers. Worth a try maybe. I still think its worth it if the browser trick fails to upload the latest firmware and maybe do a TFTP install as a last resort, tbh I would just return it and get a new one, you should not have to do all this on a new device. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 2, 2021 Administrators Share Posted January 2, 2021 Hey, welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear you're having this issue. It looks like either an Adblocker on your web browser for example or your PC firewall is blocking some necessary commands that the interface needs to work. So try an incognito window, if that doesn't work have a look at your PC firewall and try to whitelist the interface IP address please and see if that helps. The Total Legend
Thanks a lot for the help everyone, I've done everything that was suggested in this thread, but none of it worked. Each time I click a link I just get errors as I posted earlier and I am unable to get into anything meaningful to configure this router. It doesn't matter which browser I use, or which platform I use (Mac OSX or Windows 10); it doesn't matter if I disable ad blocking, or even manually allowing Insecure content to load -- even disabling firewalls and other security features, none of it works. This includes reinstalling the firmware, factory reset, both through the software AND holding a pin in the reset button. I used the phone app to set it up, I also used the web interface to set it up (again). Nothing changes. This is the worst experience I ever had with setting up a Router and I'm just going to return it and buy a totally different brand of router as I am simply at a loss that something like DumaOS was allowed to be deployed in an actual product in this really messed up state. Thanks for all the assistance. I really do appreciate it all, and it's great customer service. But I just can't trust any product with DumaOS on it. Newfie
I would say it’s hardware and you have been just unlucky. Sadly it happens and worth trying a replacement.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 3, 2021 Administrators Share Posted January 3, 2021 Sorry to hear that, I'd first suggest checking the Nighthawk for whether Armor is enabled in Settings, if it is try disabling that and then rebooting the router. It's the first time our software has been included with something like Armor so that could be causing it. I haven't seen anyone else have this to my knowledge and I was supporting during the extensive beta period so as above could be hardware also. The Total Legend
Fraser, I had already disabled Armor the other day and it was the same deal. However, I already packed up the router and will be returning it to Best Buy for something else. You can close or delete this thread. Thanks again for all the help. It really is appreciated.
