L880NN
Hi Team, Netgear are asking me for £99 to get a support contract... i'd rather buy a new router thanks. My XR500 is dropping out 2wice a day, I have had BT over to check the line, change the router/modem. I am checking the logs and I am getting regular DoS Attacks in the log - [DoS Attack: ACK Scan]. I don't think this is a legit DDOS attack. I have seen other users report the same problem. I have reset the router. I am still getting the same problem. I am a non-techy, I just love to game :-) - Please can you help me get back online with a consistent connection please, thank you Leighton - L880NN
Newfie
Hi, the BT homehub can’t do bridge mode and might be the issue if it’s connected to that unless it’s a modem it’s connected to. there has been a recent increase in port scans but you should be fine unless you get a huge amount but is it the router that drops ie you lose WiFi and wired or is it the WiFi only that drops? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 8, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 8, 2020 Thanks. In Internet Setup set it to static instead of dynamic and use the same settings. Then on the BT hub set a static IP for the XR as well, same details and see if that helps.
L880NN
Done, it already recognized on the BT hub that the XR was in static so didn't need to change anything. Question - shall i enable dynamic DNS on the BT Hub?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 9, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 9, 2020 Great, no you don't need to do that. Hopefully that prevents the connection dropping, do keep us updated!
