Bootz NY
I might have Looked in the wrong spot but what is the best settings for one gig down one gig up speeds ( should I use qos and bufferbloat)
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 10, 2020 Administrators Share Posted July 10, 2020 As you're using the R1, if you were to use QoS your speeds would be severely limited and then more for QoS to work correctly. With your speeds you're unlikely to get local congestion so I'd suggest not using them, especially when you're using the R1.
Bootz NY
Do you think I’m better off getting the newer hardware because I am capped at 600?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 12, 2020 Administrators Share Posted July 12, 2020 If you want to experience your full speeds through ethernet and also wireless then yes I would recommend doing so. The XR500 would be a good upgrade, also the beta is active on the 500 now as well so we could try to get you on it asap.
Bootz NY
One more last thing and I don’t know how you will feel about this especially from a business standpoint , but I have my r1 bridge with my ac x6 r8000 am I better off just running my internet through that cause honestly I don’t use the qos or the the server feature , I used to use qos but I don’t really think there’s much of a difference , ping plotter runs fine, only thing I’m not getting is full speeds , which my ac router is capable of doing
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 12, 2020 Administrators Share Posted July 12, 2020 Even though you don't use those features I think that with the additional features we are adding there will be at least a few things there that you will like which isn't offered on your AC router. So maybe have a look on the beta on the R1 when it is available to you, see what you think and decide from there.
