Today i am seeing the following on my XR700 V1.0.1.24 ...

  • [Internet connected] IP address: 10.84.239.2, Tuesday, March 31, 2020 22:16:52

The modem shows a steady connection for the last 3 hours. I was gaming and chatting, but didnt really see network disconnects.

Digging around, but i believe i should not see this type of activity unless my network really drops or swaps ips. is that true?

Is there a way to see how long the lease is for on the WAN connection?

This morning i took a look at the logs after leaving it running all night. I do not remember this activity before, but there might be a pattern going on here.

Some items are entered 3x in logs. It seems as if something may have gotten corrupted. It may be time for another factory reset and manual configuration on the router side, but i want to see what the support thinks first.

Well firstly are you noticing any disconnections around the time of these entries at all? If you're not then it is probably nothing or it's only been down for less than a second. It could indicate the ISP hub is dropping the router connection for some reason. You can check the WAN lease given by the ISP hub/modem in Settings > Monitoring > Connection Status, I'd be interested to see what that said.

There we go. Not sure why i didn't stumble on that earlier. For some reason the lease from the ISP is a very short lease right now.

Lease Obtained 0 Days, 0 Hours, 2 Minutes

Lease Expires 0 Days, 0 Hours, 1 Minutes

So that may be accurate connections. It is good i am not seeing a break in my network when it happens. May reset the WAN to see if it goes away.

Any thoughts as to why the other items are sometimes 3x in a row in the log?

I have seen other machines get their lease 1x in the log...

Going to see if there is a pattern. I have been watching my logs to try uncovering some issues with VPN and MTU. I hadn't seen this activity before yesterday.

Wow okay that explains it then. I would first check the ISP router and set a static IP for the XR - just use the same IP it has already for ease. Then on the XR in Internet Setup switch it to using static instead. That should then completely resolve that issue.

Right now i am running the modem/router Netgear MR1100 in ip pass through mode. From what i can gather this is pretty much Bridge mode. Sadly ATT cellular has some lovely NAT going on still as it does not supply a public IP. ATT cellular is providing the WAN ip with the reduced DHCP lease time.
