Glazeko
I am finally part of the Nighthawk xr500 family. But im experiencing increased ping times for all my games. I went back to my R1 to check if it was my internet proviter, but its not. My ping to google with the R1 is 21ms but with the XR500 is 98 :/. Any suggestions? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 20, 2018 Administrators Share Posted February 20, 2018 Hi Glazeko, set the XR500 MAC address to the R1's MAC address and that will resolve the issue. This can sometimes happen when connecting a new router to the ISP, especially if you did not reboot the ISP modem when first connecting up the XR500. Glazeko
I have rebooted my modem multiple times and still the same thing happens. But only with the xr500.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 20, 2018 Administrators Share Posted February 20, 2018 Set the MAC address of the XR500 to the MAC address of the R1 or the previous router you had connected. If that doesn't work it will be the DNS that needs to be changed as it may be trying to route you through another state. I would suggest trying Google DNS or looking up the DNS of your ISP in your state. If that doesn't work I can do a 1 on 1.

Glazeko
Everything is back to normal. But thats still very weird. I use a tp-link 7610 as my modem. I reset it many times while i was testing with the Nighthawk xr500. But now everything is working fine
