Dali86
Hi! I just ordered a new Netduma and I have a question about my IPS Modem/Router (Technicolor TC7200u. This Router/Modem is very bad and therefore I bought the Netduma. On the IPS Webpage they suggest that you deactivate WLAN and to start the local IP address with 10.0.0.10 as in this following link (Step 9,13 and 14) - http://www.upc.at/pdf/03_213_B2C_Anleitung_ROUTER_7200_1213.pdf My Question is: Should I deactivate the DHCP server on the Technicolor and does anybody have the same Router or any suggestion? Sidenote: I connected the Technicolor to my Ps4 and nothing really worked (DMZ, UPNP and opening single ports). Sadly the router isn’t broken because I returned my old one for this one and it’s the same problem (Nat problems and getting kicked out of lobbies and so on). I just want to use the Technicolor as a bridgeover or rather the internet should only flow through this crappy Technicolor router to the Netduma. Please excuse my English – it isn’t my first language. Thank you Greetings Dali
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 26, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted May 26, 2015 Welcome to the forums Dali! I can't read the link you gave me as my German is nicht gut but from the what you described and the pictures in the link I would do everything you said part form disabling DHCP. I would leave the DHCP on because it means that you don't have to set up a static IP on the Netduma to connect to the modem. Then put the Netduma into the Technicolor's DMZ. The IP address you said is probably ok but I've always used 192.168.*.* as my local range. I'm sure if the modem company are advising to use 10.0.0.10 though then that is the best option. The Netduma will take care of giving you an Open NAT so as long as you make sure the Netduma is in the DMZ your NAT should be fine. Hopefully this has answered your question. Dali86
Hi Crossy! Thanks for your quick response. Sorry for the German link. The original local IP starts with 192.168.0 and so on if you are using only the Technicolor. They suggest to use 10.0.0.1 for the Technicolor and to start the local adress with 10.0.0.10 if you are using a separate modem like the Netduma. Like I said, the DMZ and UPNP of the Technicolor is crap. Maybe its better to setup the Netduma with an static IP adress? What do you think is the better option in my case? Thanks in advanced. Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 26, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted May 26, 2015 No problem about the German link - I got the gist of what it was saying When placing something in DMZ on your modem, does it ask for the IP Address, MAC Address or does it give you a drop down menu list of all the devices connected to it? With that information I can give you an answer to your question.
Akic
10.0.0.0 is a reserved private network address much the same as 192.168.0.0 only difference is it's a class A address. Both will work fine
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted May 26, 2015 Administrators Share Posted May 26, 2015 Hi Dali, Thanks for purchasing the R1. I would recommend disabling wifi on the techni BUT keep the DHCP on. When you get the router check if you have an open NAT. If not let us know & we will give you further instructions to get it open.
Dali86
Thank you guys for the answers. @ Crossy - I can put only an IP Adress in there. I'll try to setup the Netduma right when it arrives and write you again. Greetings

If as Iain said your NAT is not open we can show you how to open it (which would just be to put the Netduma external IP in the DMZ).
