azleb
Hi All Just need some assistance with my home network, its struggling and was hoping to get some advice . Netgear have release a new switch (GS808E) and was wondering if it would work in my scenario. Is there a better way I could be doing things? Your help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a link with a quick image below. Hopefully explains my setup easier. Cheers
Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted May 19, 2017 Netduma Staff Share Posted May 19, 2017 Your diagram is confusing since it doesn't look like anything is connected to the Netduma; since it looks like everything is connected to the Hub rather than the Netduma. Or is it that you have a modem that the Netduma is connected to which isn't on this diagram? It doesn't seem like there's any need for another switch unless there's a ton of devices that aren't on your diagram you want to connect to it, or if you want to replace one of your switches with a new one. azleb
Sorry the hub is a patching system, hills hub is the brand. I was thinking i should replace them with all Netgear GS808E switches. im not sure if that would help or work much better than it currently is. Are you getting your full speeds? Do you have an open NAT? Wi-Fi dropouts? All information about what's going on with your setup will help with advising you. azleb
Really slow transfer speeds between my NAS and devices. Watching videos on some devices can be little slow with buffering which shouldn't happen with my speed (100Mbps down)My NAT is open and all good. Wifi isnt a problem at all once I got the Nighthawk extender and used that only for my wifi. Ultimately I was to make my network as quick as possible. Sometimes I get concerned that my setup is all out of wack.

If more, Reactive Algorithm - 100% anti-flood - Share excess enabled - Reset device prioritisation & apply - Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc (Unless you know that you are on IPv6) - Disable deep packet in misc - Enable turbo mode if over 120mbps - Enable super turbo mode if over 300mbps - Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds. - Do a wired speed test from a PC If that doesn't work then the only reason why your speeds will be lower could be to do with your equipment; if your wires are worn out / can't handle the speeds, or the same is occurring with your switches, then you might not be receiving your full speeds. iAmMoDBoX
Switch is better than a hub. Do what you suggested and replace all your points with a good solid hub.
