Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 28, 2017 Administrators Share Posted April 28, 2017 From my understanding the Netduma when playing a game like COD that is P2P, no dedicated servers where one of the players is host. No one in your lobby should be outside your set radius or pinging higher than what you have your ping assist set to. If the Duma is set up correctly. Fraser, Can you confirm or deny this??? CoD isn't P2P, just for the lobby then it switches over to a dedicated server a majority of the time. In most cases if there is one singular host then you may not get everyone inside your radius. If everyone is 'hosting' as in everyone is connected to everyone then everyone would be in your radius. That's what I believe to be the case

That's what I believe to be the case I believe all COD games up to AW were all P2P meaning no dedicated servers. Then AW used a hybrid system using "listen" servers so sometimes you would play on a dedicated servers other times you would not. So my question here is, if playing a P2P game, (no dedicated servers), where one of the players in the lobby is picked as a host, how does the Geo filter work exactly? Cuz I am under the assumption if set up properly, you should not be connecting to anyone outside your set radius or if using ping assist with strict ticked, no one higher than what you have the ping assist set to. Otherwise I would not see the benefit of the Netduma geofilter if it can not control who you connect to in a P2P game??
Andy706
Your picture looks like it's successfully blocking everything outside your radius. The Andy xbox is disabled, so you may get red hosts outside your radius which relate to that device but the one that's enabled looks to be working as expected. If this isn't the case then zoom out of the map and provide a screenshot of the entire page as opposed to a picture of the screen, it'll be easier to see everything: http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000022394-how-do-i-take-a-screenshot- I'm still working on getting an image of the full host filter page. Thanks for you patience. My computer will only screenshot what is on 1 page. The yellow triangles with the exclamation Point that indicates "Outside Filter Range Host" does not disappear as normal. It stays throughout the entirety of the match until I leave the lobby. I have even spoken to another player in in my lobby who was on my team from California who was way outside my filter range but was in my game. I have played Infinite Warfare for approximately 2 hours and the geofiltering worked flawlessly. I WILL get you the information you requested so we can get to the bottom of this issue. Thank you again for your patience.

The idea of the Geo-filter is to get the host to be within your radius so you have the lowest possible ping to that host. If there is only one host i.e. a server or one player host then you can't affect other players connecting to that server. If it's true P2P where everyone connects to everyone else then yes everyone would be in your radius. I'm still working on getting an image of the full host filter page. Thanks for you patience. XSXS
If it's true P2P where everyone connects to everyone else then yes everyone would be in your radius. Do any games operate this way? I know COD has always picked one of the players in the lobby to be the host. My question is, I know a couple of the COD titles had any option for search preferences for best connection then you would get games below a certain ping. So is the geo filter doing any thing different than this?

If you do ping assist it will do it just off ping if you put location in ocean and strict mode on.

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 5, 2017 Administrators Share Posted May 5, 2017 Interesting your are on P2P by the looks of it. So yeah as I mentioned above the host of the game is within your radius so it looks to be behaving properly. The triangles could be from the other device, it's hard to tell. Thanks again for all the help. yep nothing wrong on your end, the duma is operating like it is supposed to (unfortunately). Looks like you connected to a host in side your geo filter. However as fraser mentioned people outdide your geo filter still can connect to that host. Good chance this triangles represent that, boo. No beuno! I thought the same as you at first that no one should connect to you outside your geo filter but that is not the case unless you get host!
