Wrong Servers on IW

I am trying to figure this out. There is someone I was discussing DEDI's with for IW on a PS4. They are roughly 150 miles from Chicago area where he says he connects. I remember I used to connect there often but rarely if ever connect there now. I am probably less than 50 miles of the server. Lately the Duma is showing it is connecting me to East Coast Servers and Southern Illinois along with a quite a few P2P hosts. I am finding that P2P are the most reliable of those two option. Southern Illinois Dedi' is OK, hit or miss but still bad compared to the Chicago area Dedi. 

Just curious if there is anyway the IW matchmaking servers could be confusing my location for another one. I know this sounds odd but I can't figure out why I would connect to servers over 700 miles away when there is one in my backyard basically.

Only other reasons I could come up with is they have some weird SBMM going on but of course I have no proof of that.

Now I can try to force the server connection by lowering my radius and setting PA to zero but at that point, it just won't find a game. I am able to do this with the East Coast servers but trying to eliminate Souther Illinois, well that just results in no game found.

Again, just curious if it is possible whether through the duma or even my modem, possibly even the PS4 if it would confuse the matchmaking thinking I am from another location. I did check PS4 Pro timezone and that is correct but have no idea if any of that  even matters. Might be grasping at straws here but there are smarter people on here than me when it comes to this stuff.

If your server is encompassing Chicago and the East Coast then if the Chicago server is full or maybe not performing well it will go to East Coast instead. 

 

How low are you setting your distance when you're trying to force? 

 

If you want to force try this:

 

Hard turn off console

Set home location, radius, strict on, PA 0

Make sure map is completely clear

Turn on console & game then search

If your server is encompassing Chicago and the East Coast then if the Chicago server is full or maybe not performing well it will go to East Coast instead.

I did what you mentioned and as expected for me the Chicago area servers are MIA. Whats odd is I know someone that says that is all they ever connect too.

 

I pretty much just narrowed my radius to exclude east coast servers and reduce PA to 0 and it looks like I will be stuck playing primarily on the Southern DEDI's for now even though those seem to perform worse than a lot of P2P games. Miss my Chicago area servers, I could usually get a series of consistent games with minimal BS there. As of the last several weeks of playing, this game for me has really tanked in regards to online performance. 

 

Do you happen to know if the Chicago, Southern Illinois and East Coast Servers were ever labeled on duma as DEDI's. Even though they appear to be larger server farms, I am not getting the TEMP BANS, just the update feature. Not a big deal but was curious. 

 

Might be posting up my settings soon just to give this one last ditch effort to salvage this game for me but the constant fight to get decent games is just getting old. Not sure DUMA is enough to overcome IW's bipolar performance. Glad I have it though, it is definitely interesting to see where the game chooses servers.

They should have been yes, if you do manage to see them grab an ID and I can add to the dedicated server list.
